Commercial Description:
The Noordhoek Ostrich Farm and Resort has been offering visitors an oasis of silence, tranquility and green pasture since 1997. In 2001 we began offering our guests fresh, homemade ale, "Struise Witte" was born. The dutch word for "ostriches" is "struisvogels" or "Struise", but the same word can also mean "sturdy" or "robust". This "Robust White" is a living wheat beer of high fermentation, unfiltered and unpasteurized. Brewed with natural ingredients, bottle conditioned in 33 cl bottles.

Bottle. Pours hazy gold with a fluffy white head. Aroma is apple skins, tart fruit, and a little bit of musy. The acidity reminds me of a cheap champagne. Medium body. Flavor brings more notes of apple skin and pear. It’s not bad, but it’s a quite unimpressive and strange take on the style.

Poured from the bottle with a slightly opaque pale yellow body. An active white head sits on top. The aroma is like fruity canned pears with some weird wicker basket notes. The taste is like canned peaches with some salty lemon juice poured over it. Mix in some crushed Ritz Crackers and you have the taste of this strange beer. Easily the worst wit I have tried, I found this to be nearly undrinkable.

Hazy yellow colour and low density lively white foam. Aroma is a little musty. Flavour is too sour. This has a similar acidity to chamapgne. Awful stale taste and overall unpleasant aroma.

Bottle. Pours to a straw colored body with a super dense fully lasting nitro looking white head. The aroma is very good. Citrus rinds, herbal notes of some kind of flowers like hibiscus and starfruit. The flavor is a wheaty orange oil and mandarin oranges with a tart yeast and subtle coriander. Refreshing palate but average texture. A very unique wit. Significant flavor differences to any other I’ve sampled.

Hazy golden of color with a light white head. An aroma with notes of sweets, spice and orange. A flavor of wheat, citrus and spice.

[1181-20080303] 330mL. Faint aroma of wheat and lemon. Hazy, light brown orange body with a long-lasting creamy white head. Generic wheat grain flavour has hints of bitter lemon rind. Medium body finishes bitterly. Average.

Golden colored and pours a huge white fluffy head with good retention. The aroma is malty, with some grass and herbal with just a touch of citrus. The flavor is a citrus tang; I get orange, coriander and lemons along with wheaty malts. Acidic with quite a bit of carbonation. Seemed a bit thin and over carbonated. Interesting, refreshing beer and overall pretty good but nothing special.
