In 2001 we began offering our guests fresh, homemade ale, "Struise Witte" was born. The dutch word for "ostriches" is "struisvogels" or "Struise", but the same word can also mean "sturdy" or "robust". This "Robust White" is a living wheat beer of high fermentation, unfiltered and unpasteurized. Brewed with natural ingredients, bottle conditioned in 33 cl bottles.

Bottle. Pours a good cloudy yellow colour with a thick creamy big and long lasting white head leaving a good lacing. Aroma of wheat, yeast, citrus and some good frutiness . Flavour of wheat with citrus, some bítter hops, spices and with surprisingly sweet exotic fruitiness. Quite dry wheaty and bit spiced finish.

Bottle. Pours quite clear yellow with a slight tint of orange. Head is white and fizzy and settles as a thin millimeter. Aroma is mild with some yeasty and apple tones - it has a feel as if its a white wine. Quite spritzy in your mouth - now it more resembles a champagne. Mildly sour with no bitterness. Ending with a malty sweet edge. Different, I must say, but quite nice.

(Bottle) Pours a hazy blond body with a medium white head. Flavor of grass, citrus, and herbs. Flavor of lemon, orange, light coriander and wheat with a subtle sourness and then bitterness than lingers into the finish.

Objectively speaking: 33cL from Julio’s. A tasty, citrusy and rather spicy witbier with tight carbonation, but not so much refreshment from the wheat.
I like: Champaigny appearance - clear light golden, rocky white head. Lemon pie connotations in its citrusy abundance. Integrated coriander powder - not overdone. Sweet, but balanced by fair acidity and a growing spice bitterness.
I dislike: Almost too fizzy. Timid wheat gets overwhelmed by the citrus. Surprisingly not so refreshing ultimately. Not a lot of depth to that aroma.

Botle thanks to cgarvieuk. Wow what a difference here to thier normal stuff. Aroma is fruity, slightly richer oxidied malts, almond paste. Taste is similar feels old even though its fresh from the brewery, not into this at all. Appaligies carlo!
