Interesting sour that was aged in whiskey barrels that really cut down on the pucker and gave it more of a mellow non tart palate and mouthfeel.

Like their Aardmonnik, the Struise Brewers tackle the oud bruin style in their own creative way with this: partially brewed wuth rye and aged on burgundy and Wild Turkey barrels... It refers to the first World War, the beginning of which is commemorated this year. Pale beige, thinnish, unstable head, dark burgundy colour, hazy. Complex aroma of plums, figs, grapes, wood, yoghurt, sherry, chocolate with just a hint of bourbon. Complex taste profile, candied fruits, citrus touch, lactic acid, strongish carbo at first but calming down as you go further into the beer, smooth caramelly and nutty malt backbone, lightly toasted, long finish, woody with subtle yet noticeable bourbon (the burgundy is far less obvious), late and subtle leafy hop bitterness and some warming, sherry-like alcohol; in all, an interesting and complex brew once again, but I had expected a bit more body.

-Short review- very complex. Aroma of red berries, vanilla, caramel and oak. Slick palate. Aftertaste which develops from sour and funk, to sweet toffee and berries. Overall: nice! Very complex.

Helt mørk med meget tyndt hvidt skum. Mærkelig lambic agtig syrlig smag med en anelse anis. Næse af anis og krydderi ... uden syren. Ikke lige min kop te. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

50cl Bottle - - - Gushing Alert - - - Dark brown color with a huge brown head. Nose: wild yeast, sour, some cherries, dark malts, chocolate, raisins, dark fruit, orange, spicy feeling, cuberdons. Oh this little baby has just a great complex nose! Taste: Cherries, dark to even slightly roasted. more cherries, but still very well balanced. Fruity character, dessert oranges, alcohol pepperness. Initially sour in the taste, some nice to even great sourness. but, this is corrected quickly, gains on body and finish. Wow, jusst a great "oud bruin"... really really nice... say no more.... One question left: how would this age ?

50cl bottle from Ale&Hop in Barcelona. Pours dark reddish brown with a creamy off white head. Smell has a distinct sweet sour character with yeast, red fruits, wine and a light metallic note. The sweetness seems to be more evident in the first few minutes the bottle was opened. Taste is mildly acidic with the wine note from the Bourgogne very noticeable along some fruity flavors (cherries, plums). High carbonation, no hops. Very good.
