3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 noncaloric (684) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 17, 2009
UPDATED: MAR 8, 2009 Slightly hazy apple cider color, small white head, steady effervescence but no lasting lace. Aroma of tart apples couples with a cheesy funk, very nice. On the flavor, the tart apple leads and the brett funk finishes. There’s an element in the middle like soap or apple peel, not exactly off but not well harmonized with the rest, either. Light to medium body, sparkling in the mouth, very refreshing, smooth afterfeel.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Koelschtrinker (6544) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - FEB 17, 2009

11.2 oz. bottle - Poured hazey golden straw color with small head.
Aroma - sour lemon, bubble gum and green apples.
Flavor - tart apple and lemon.
Palate- medium mouthfeel with below average carbonation. Finish is slightly dry and tart.
Overall - I have very little experience when it comes to Sour Ales but thought this beer was fairly good.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 SamGamgee (2451) - down the whirlpool, California, USA - FEB 14, 2009
33cl bottle at max’s 36h of Belgium. Hazy gold with a big white head. Aroma is really bretty and sour lemon with some light honeyish malt and spice. Clean tart lemony flavor with pale malts underneath. Not intensely sour or complex, but just really refreshing and drinkable. medium bodied with smooth carbonation. The brett and pedio seem to really take the wheel here, but you can’t really complain.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Glouglouburp (4558) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 9, 2009
UPDATED: JAN 23, 2011 In short: A slightly funky and slightly sour golden ale that prefers subtlety over intensity. Excellent
How: Bottle 750ml. This rating for a 1+ year old bottle (better now than when it was fresh)
The look: Almost clear golden body topped by very small beige head
In long: Nose of a Gueuze-Light with barnyard and hay. Taste of hay, staw, lemon, citrus skin, sawdust, green and red apples, orange pulp, a bit musty. Quite complex but also quite subtle relative to this usually intense style. Soft carbonation and light-medium body. Light-medium funkiness, medium acidity, light-medium sourness. Finish is very dry. If my bad memory serves me right this beer has gotten a lot more dry and intense compare to when it was fresh. It is now very dry so the yeasts ate all it could eat so I don’t think it will change anymore. Perfect as it is. Very impressive that they were able to combine Brettanomyces Bruxellensis and Pediococus Cerivisae to create that beer, almost as impressive as being able to spell it.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 afireinside96 (924) - Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 9, 2009
Bottle, served in a Duvel tulip. Lightly hazed golden body pours with very little head. Nose is mostly funky notes: rotting hay, old cheese, lightly tart, green apple. Flavor is sour apples, cheese, hay, slight sourness. Finishes tart and cidery, very drying. When I had this in the past I was blown away, but now that I have more sours under my belt it is merely adequate.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ceebs25 (465) - Naperville, Illinois, USA - FEB 7, 2009
11.2 oz bottle. Rather sweet and sour aroma, sweet fruits, orange and lemon zest, and some mild spices as well with a unique light flatbread yeasty kind of note. Not much head on the pour, but there’s a good ring frothy bubble white head that remains, mostly opaque and cloudy, pretty color of golden orange peel. Very tangy and somewhat tart flavor profile, yet not too overly sour with a semi-dry finish, notes of apple cider, orange juice concentrate, pears, cranberry, and fruit leaves. This was nicely complex beer, yet not exactly the kind of stuff i crave.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 oakbluff (382) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - FEB 1, 2009
Pours a cloudy golden hue, minimal head, white lacing. Nose-sweet tangerine, wiff of sour. Taste-initial green apple tartness, citrus zing and pear. Dry brett finish, musty. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with fairly spritzy carbonation. Drinkability is quite good- the level of sourness is just puckering enough to want more and more.
