3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 holdenn (1841) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 1, 2008
11.2 oz bottle pours a slightly hazed golden yellow with a white head. I expected a fruity and slightly sour ale, but this is quite sour. Aroma is tart cherries and grape skins with hay and grain notes. Tart flavors that match the cherry and grape skins with vinegar, lemons, pears, and lactic sourness. Lasting sour flavors that leave my palate dry. This could be a bit more layered in flavors and aromas since the sourness mutes the fruit and funk subtleties. But this is a delicious sour ale.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 blipp (3600) - Newark, New Jersey, USA - JUL 1, 2008
Bottle. Pours hazy gold with a dissapearing white head. Aroma is fruity and funky. Banana and clove-like spice combine nicely with a musty, dusty basement-like quality. Medium body. Flavor delivers the sour punch that I knew was coming, although the sour flavor is restrained, and only serves to compliment, rather than dominate. Hints at lemon and other fruit, and spice. Very nice, although I probably couldn’t drink more than one or two of these in one session.
1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20 jsquire (2461) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - JUN 28, 2008
When I poured this bottle into the glass it made the loud, rushing sound like soda pop or champagne. The head came and went to nothing. The nose was like apple juice that was left out in the sun too long, along with the tell tale Brett funk that I really don’t get. Muted golden color. The flavor has spoiled apple juice, rancid oranges, bad pears, and funky lemon fruits over a moldy bread. It is just hard for me to drink. I know there is a common complaint about people rating styles that they don’t like, but I think it is important to give voice to the decenters out there to warn the unknowing about the risks of drinking this beer.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 GAManiac (1852) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JUN 28, 2008
Pours a bright, hazy golden orange with a large frothy head that lasts for quite a while as it bubbles throughout the session. Lacing is light and delicate.
Smell is citrus and a tad bit sour with oranges and lemons up front. There are some sweeter fruits in there as well with apricots and pears with some bready malt way back in the background.
Taste follows the aroma but is definitely more on the sour side of things. Big floral taste up front which gave way to the green apple tartness.
Mouthfeel is light and extremely crisp with high carbonation that gave a relatively dry finish.
Despite the sour not being overpowering, that aspect limits the drinkability for me a little bit. Still, a decent brew from Struise.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 thedm (4116) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - JUN 27, 2008
This bottled brew from Indianapolis, IN poured a small sized head of quickly diminishing finely sized white colored bubbles that left behind a slightly hazy softly carbonated dark orange colored body. The aroma was lambic like and sour. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and strongly tingly at the finish. The flavor contained notes of something between the cross of a cider and a lambic with strong citrousy sour notes.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 cmillward (496) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUN 25, 2008
Bottle. This beer is just amazing. Slightly hazy, gold/amber with a small white head. Leaves a little lacing and has nice small bubbles trickling up through the glass. At first this is cheesy on the nose, barnyard, then strawberries, tart, honeyish, a spicy kick. In flavor this is tart and sour, an impression of tart apples, and a spicy finish. Wonderful carbonation, perfect dry finish, just fantastic. Wow! The spicy vs. tart/sour on this was incredible. Big thanks to mcbackus for hooking me up with this!
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 18/20 airforce1 (61) - Atascosa, Texas, USA - JUN 25, 2008
Big brett and Lacto Beer. Hints of Grapefruit, this beer would be perfect as a brunch beer on a sunny day. Best served at room temperature. ALMOSt as good as Russian River...but not quite.

thanks to mcbackus! Funky aroma, sour fruits, apple skins, sweet tarts. Pours very light blonde with a thick white head. Tart, very tart, with sweet malts, sweet tart like flavors, hints of apple skins, raspberry skins, moderately acidic. Very lovely sourness. Very enjoyable!
