3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 yemenmocha (657) - Glendale, Arizona, USA - MAR 19, 2010
Pours slightly hazy, thick yellow with little to no head.
Nose has some fruit with notes of vinegar or something preservative-like.
Huge sour blast on the palate. Those who are not regular consumers of the style may find themselves making the "bitter beer face" (except sour beer face in this case). Somewhat tart with the sour, some passion fruit and dried out fruit such as apricot.
Finish has a prolonged, savory sourness that is pleasant.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 hombrepalo (1317) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 19, 2010
Pours a cloudy gold in color, smallish head, never left. There is a very nice tart/sour funky smell in the nose and the taste. Decent, with plenty of brett, and just the right amount of tartness to make this work. Went down easy, and the finish of each drink left you wanting another. Taste either started fading after the beer got warmer or my palate got used to the tartness.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 ricke (476) - Malme, SWEDEN - MAR 14, 2010
Bottle.
Orange color with some deeper hues. A small head disappears quickly, no lacings.
The smell is bretty and very funky. Lots of barnyard aromas, mud and hay. Some malts.
The flavor is lightly sweet with a nice tightly held tartness to it. The funk is more restrained than in the smell, but still quite noticeable. Notes of lemon, crackers, mud and hay. The finish is dry and bretty with tart notes and hints of minerals.
Moderate body and semi-light on the palate.
A good beer. No where near a lambic or gueuze, but a well made sour ale.

Fluffy white head. Golden color. Sour aroma with apples and "Pommac". The beer recembles Struisse Dirty Horse but not as aged as that beer. Sour taste with citrus or sour apples. Big acidity.

20081104 (the day ratebeer died) 11.2 oz bottle, undated. Orangey gold with small fizzy head. Initially, nose is floral, wild, pleasant reminder or Orval. Body is thin, spritzy, and tart. Nice acidity but otherwise a bit bland. So-so stuff that reminded me of a disappointing apple.
