bartlebier (1640) - Belchum im Breisgau, GERMANY - MAR 11, 2014
33cl bottle bb07/2014, Edeka Olgastrasse. Revisiting this +3 years after my last regular encounters with this everywhere in D-0711. Your typical once-regional, now Radeberger-owned standard Pilsner: straw, dry grains, just enough hops (no extract in this case: bonus point) to elevate it above lager/Helles level. Finishes on a surprising mineral and old lemon note, indeed McTapps. With Hofbräu there always was this metallic and stale quality that made it 2nd choice, even in my swilling days.

Papsoe (25088) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - NOV 20, 2005
(Bottle 50 cl) Neatly pilsener golden with a small, fine head. Rather neutral with a slight dominance of sweet malt. The hops are vague and subdued. A pleasant all right pilsener, but not the most characterful. 150203

bottle. Clear golden yellow, mid-sized head. Malty and hoppy, a bit thin, not overwhelmingly full-flavoured. There is a fruity hint present, slightly sourish. Has its own character.

UPDATED: OCT 7, 2009 Clear golden with a medium off white head. Sweet aroma with malty and caramel notes. Flavour with malty and caramel notes. Towards the finish the hops kicked in.

(bottle) Clear, pale golden colour with a fluffy white foamy head. Discreet aroma of grainy malt with shades of honey and hops far in the background. Moderately sweet flavour with a tinge of bitterness, light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Sweet pale malt-character with a shy grainy touch; sweet malty and muted hoppy finish with a very restrained level of bitterness. Easy-going but nothing more. 17.X.10

500ml can. It is decently hopped but I would not call it a typical pils. It isn’t refreshing enough.

Can. Pours clear gold with a medium, fizzy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is pilsner malt, meal, and grain, light spicy hops and a clean lager character. Flavor is malty with light hops, medium bitterness and a dry finish. Light body and warmth, medium carbonation.

500 ml can. BB 01/04/15. (Netto) Peißenberg, Germany.
Clear golden colour with a small foamy white head. Dry soapy and grassy hoppiness, straw and malt in the aroma. The flavour is straw, malt, hay, mild sweetness and a touch of grassy hops. Drinkable but quite thin.

Golden, thin white head. Malty aroma that also brings some dough. Mild and malty flavor, I waited for this one to turn hoppy but it never did..
