500 ml can. BB 01/04/15. (Netto) Peißenberg, Germany.
Clear golden colour with a small foamy white head. Dry soapy and grassy hoppiness, straw and malt in the aroma. The flavour is straw, malt, hay, mild sweetness and a touch of grassy hops. Drinkable but quite thin.

It’s golden with a creamy, white head. The aroma has notes of straw, malt and a little flowers. The flavor has a light sweetness and notes of fresh grain, flowers, straw and the finish is slightly dry and bitter - pleasant and straightforward.

Aroma: herbs, sulfur. Appearance: clear straw color, poor white head. Taste: medium bitterness (herbs), zesty, quite dry and slightly watery. Palate: medium body and high carbonation, bitter finish. Overall: Quite good pilsner, but still boring.

33cl bottle bb07/2014, Edeka Olgastrasse. Revisiting this +3 years after my last regular encounters with this everywhere in D-0711. Your typical once-regional, now Radeberger-owned standard Pilsner: straw, dry grains, just enough hops (no extract in this case: bonus point) to elevate it above lager/Helles level. Finishes on a surprising mineral and old lemon note, indeed McTapps. With Hofbräu there always was this metallic and stale quality that made it 2nd choice, even in my swilling days.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein klares goldenes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch hopfig, getreidig, grasig. Geschmack hopfig, grasig, lang anhaltende Bitterkeit.

0.3 litre vase shaped glass, on-tap in the ’Lammstube’ Bad Krozingen on 19th Sep 2013. Looked good in it’s correct fluted glass, bright, clear and clean, just like a golden Pilsner should look in fact. No great aroma, like most Pilsners: some grainy hope notes maybe. Gets my standard score of three for a non-smelling lager/pilsner. The taste was sharp and crisp with the hops pushing the malt content into the background. Refreshing, but without really having any true flavour to get into, it is OK and I suppose typical of the many beers brewed around the world in this style.
