Draft. Brown-mahogony beer with a light tan head. Low citrus aroma. Citrus, light caramel, light cocoa flavor. Lingering bitterness with citrus and cocoa.

Draft at the brewpub. Very dark brown color with a decent beige head. Aroma is caramel malt with some hop. Near medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is lightly fruity, citrusy floral hop, followed by nutty, roasted dark caramel. The finish resembles a dry stout - but roasted rather than burntly toasted. Very smooth for a brown ale. A truly good drink. May be some differences in batches, or mayhap it improves with a little settling. I didn’t get anything very harsh. Much less harsh than many brown ales.

On tap at the brewpub. 1.0 Liter sample. Rather spicy, metallic, hoppy aroma. Lightly sweet malts with some chocolate hints are also present. Moderately hazy dark brown/cola-colored body with a frothy cola-colored head that leaves nice lacing behind. Light graininess with husked malts start off. This is followed by a SHITLOAD of tannins. Intensely bitter and burnt popcorn flavors that are very dry follow. A tea-like medicinal bitterness kills the palate to finish. Not a brown ale...despite its flaws, it is better than a typical brown ale, though.
