Ordained as the “official Oktoberfestbier,” Fest Märzen is sweeter, more robust and flavorful than your typical Märzen. Specialty malts were used generously adding to the higher, more festive alcohol content. Best enjoyed in leder hosen.

Aroma was malty with a slight hint of prunes... Flavor was the same. As another rater posted, more like a bock than a marzen... at any rate, it was a tasty beer.

Bottle. Aroma of caramel and malts. Similar taste, a very sweet and malty body. I really like this beer, pleasantly surprised by how tasty it is! One of the better Oktoberfest beers I’ve had and definitely surprised by the alcohol in it. 7.5% abv.

Bottle from Total Wine, Sacramento. Pours dark amber with an attractive beige head and a treacle aroma. There is a medium-bodied smoked malt flavor with a dry slightly bitter finish.

Poured into a tulip glass. Amber color with a half finger of head. Nose full of grain, barley, malt and honey. Rich smelling, just like it should be. Rich taste too. Malty, sweet, a biting bitter at the end. Crisp, moderate carbonation and medium bodied. The taste and the body are excellent. The combination of the malty taste with the crisp body create an amazing experience. After four years of living and drinking my way through Germany, I can confidently say this is probably the best non-Bavarian Oktoberfest beer that I have had.

More like a bock to me than a marzen. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a red-caramel color with a medium sized foamy tan head that lingered and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was bock like sour caramel and vegetal malts. The flavor was tangy sour caramel with vegetal malts and a vague fruity presence. Medium length tangy caramel and vegetal finish. Medium body and smooth. Ok.

This beer is mildly sweet and malty, maybe slightly fruity. Not the best after taste. I very nice golden brown with very little head :)

Poured from the bottle. Good head, nice dark orange color. Aroma is typical of lagers, bleh. Flavor is better! Nice caramel sweet flavors. Palate has a nice carbonation, and a medium body. Overall this is much better than sam Adams o Octoberfest

Bottle. Pours with a deep, hazy orange body and a thin, and quick to fade off-white head. Aromas of candy corn, hay and grain. Fresh bagels and caramel. Light iodine on the aroma as well. Flavors of butter, light vegital, grainy, caramel. Not very clean. I do expect a lot better from Sudwerk. I am disappointed (they generally nail a lot of traditional styles). Diacetyl...really no other descriptor. Strong diacetyl. Lively bubbles. Sudwerks can and should do better than this!

UPDATED: NOV 12, 2010 Bottle from Valley Farm. Sweet malty aroma with a little bit of fruitiness. Flavor is fairly malty with a good amount of sweet. Finish has a little hop bitterness. Pretty rich and full bodies. Reminds me of a bock.
