3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Aroma of caramel and malts. Similar taste, a very sweet and malty body. I really like this beer, pleasantly surprised by how tasty it is! One of the better Oktoberfest beers I’ve had and definitely surprised by the alcohol in it. 7.5% abv.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at the Barrel Republic.
Appearance: Medium amber with a sudsy off-whitehead that leaves streaks of lacing on the glass.
Aroma: Surprisingly hoppy; although this is mild (and Piney), I expect the malts to dominate. .
Flavor: Very good sweet/bitter balance. Mild hopping yet relatively piney/hoppy flavor for style.
Feel: Medium body with good carbonation. Crisp.
O: a West Coast Marzen.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours a beautiful amber with a red tint. No head. Aroma of toasted malts. Flavor is somewhat complex for a Marzen. Notes of spices, plums, brown sugar. Sweet, but not overbearing. Slight bitterness in the finish. Not bad.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the brewery. It pours a clear amber color with an off white head. The aroma is toasty malt with light notes of honey and fruit. The flavor is complex toasty malt with a dry, spicy noble hop finish. Full bodied and satisfying. Clean and finishes dry as a bone. A lot like their regular Marzen. Love it.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from a small store in Woodland, CA. As Fest Harvest Lager (7.5%). Pours clear darkish copper with a transient beige head. Malty aroma. Med + body. Flavor is dark roast malt - black or near it , but roasty - with something suggesting earth/herb hop. Seems mildly spicy. Flavor is quite strong, so this is arguably an exceptional marzen.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
First rating of 2013. Thanks to my girlfriend Ashley for bringing this back from California. Pours hazy amber with a thin beige head. Malty, as expected, with a level of sweetness appropriate for the style. Some light toasted malts, odder fruity-ish notes, and lighter flowery notes. Well balanced and pretty drinkable.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle pours clear amber with copper edges and short lived tan head of loose foam. The light aroma is a mix of caramel, faint mineral notes and even fainter plum and cherry esteriness. The taste isn’t overly sweet, which I like. It offers up a touch of roasted malts, sweet malts and maybe a sweet biscuit note before thin layers of ripe plum, cherry and a slight mineral note come to the surface midway and into the finish. Pretty nice with a tasty balance.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Faint maple and cinnamon on the nose. Dark amber in appearance with no foam. Standard Oktoberfest with notes of brown sugar and maple. Overall, not a whole lot of flavor going on with this one. I’d give this a D rating.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aroma was malty with a slight hint of prunes... Flavor was the same. As another rater posted, more like a bock than a marzen... at any rate, it was a tasty beer.
