COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
No one could give me any information on this beer while I was at the brewpub. I know they have 2 other IPAs listed and this may actually be one of those. I know there has been a change in ownership and management recently, so this may be an entirely new beer. I am creating a new listing just in case.

3. Litre on tap at the brewpub. Distinct caramel, nutty, malty aroma which has some piney and grapefruity hops in the nose. A little spicy hoppiness is also detected. Hops seem a bit subdued, though, but are quaffable enough. Mild-moderate hazy, rusty orangey-copper color with nice lacing and a creamy off-white head. Sweet, sugary maltiness to start. A bit too sweet and underattenuated. Aggressive juicy hops follow this. These hops have earthy, dry, citric, and grapefruity flavors. The sweet, sugary malts and the dry hop profile of tis makes this beer taste off. If they would have let this ferment more, it would score much much better.

Great aromatic hops, not overwhelmingly bitter. Dark copper color and plenty of malt. Good beer. Would recommend.

Poured into a shaker glass on tap @ brewpub. Aroma is nice, appear ancee is good, nicee lacing down the glass. Flvour is good, very nice for what seems like a typical ipa. Bitterness is balanced, and medium full body is proper for This beer.

An amber IPA with a thin creamy white head. A rather strong butterscotch aroma, wiht light c-hops. In mouth, a crisp malt with light British hops, very mild and boring. Medium bodied. On tap at brewpub, August 27 2009.

Great aroma on this one. Good hop taste, but the bitter is a little much. Very different from the San Diego style IPAs I have been having lately, much more upfront sweetness and crazy lingering bitter. Good, but old school, ?, maybe...Will call it good for what it is.

On tap at the brewery. Amber with a lasting head. Not very aromatic, with some earthy hops and toasty malt. The flavor is a dry, toasty malt flavor with plenty of bitterness and not too much floral or fruity hop flavor. Alright, but not one of their better beers.

Taverner (1044) - San Ramon, California, USA - JUL 16, 2008
Very bitter and refreshing. Full of bittering hops with not much in the way of florals. Still, there are some. It lacks the dankness of a truly great IPA, or the pure floral outburst of an outstanding IPA. The nose is biscuity with the small amount of florals in this one. Not very balanced - not much to chew on either.

Draft at the brewpub. Strong floral? hop aroma. It was served way too cold. Darkish amber color with a fine beige head. Near medium body with very light carbonation. The flavor is a bit watery. Light malt and light floral hop. It has substance, but it has less impact than many IPAs. Based on the ratings, I wonder whether there is indeed more than one recipe.

On tap at Sudwerk. This brew is an excellent example of the genre. Very hoppy, strong brew that doesn’t let up and gives a strong aftertaste. Very good... comparable to Sierra.

On tap, part of the 10 beer sampler. Poured a yellow color with a nuch of hoppiness. It left me with a bitter aftertaste of I would have rated it higher.

Citrus and malt nose. Biscuit and caramel notes on the palate with little hop flavor. Mildly sweet and earthy finish.
