COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly Sudwerk Pilsner.

A Northern German-style Pilsner brewed in Northern California. Our pilsner is brewed entirely with pale two-row Weyermann, true to the style. A special blend of Bavarian Hallertauer and Tettnanger hops are used during brewing, adding to the sharp finish. Winner of the coveted “Brewers Choice” award for 25 consecutive years and counting.

I was first introduced to this beer a couple of years ago while staying at Marine’s Memorial hotel in San Francisco, where it was labeled Leatherneck. It’s quickly become one of my favorites! I enjoy it because it’s rather strong for a Pilsner. It has a clean, crisp, refreshing taste, and goes well with pork or beef.

Pours pale yellow with active carbonation and decent head. Aroma is typical of the style, but there seems to be a touch of nut in the aroma as well. Mouthfeel is smooth. Taste is malt forward with the earthy bitterness of a bohemian pilsener. Sweeter than most.

This is one of the finest German style pilsners available. If you can find it, buy it/ I have mainly drank it straight from the tap on site in Davis, Ca. I don't get into taste descriptors as everyones taste is slightly different.

On tap at Beachwood BBQ. Crystal clear, pale golden colored pour with a frothy layer of brilliant white head. Gentle aromas of herbal and floral hops liven up an ultra clean bready pilsener malt base. No DMS, making the true characters of the pilsener malt really shine through. Light bodied, crisp, refreshing mouthfeel with a sizzling carbonation. Well attenuated and exceptionally balanced between malt sweetness and hop bitterness. Bready, doughy malt up front, followed by a refreshing finish of herbal hops. Dry, lagery finish. Perfectly hopped, and wonderfully clean. It’s difficult to find a good fresh pilsner that exhibits zero DMS, but this one does so marvelously, allowing the pilsener malt to shine through wonderfully. Flavorful, quaffable, refreshing, clean. Awesome pils.

Pilsner hops aroma with a bready pale malt smell. Light golden color with a frothy head, lots of action and no visible sediment. Bready pale malt grain taste with well balanced hops that has an herbal aftertaste. Light bodied, resinous, with lively soft carbonation. Excellent session beer and well balanced.

Mainly clear dark straw. Small, compact white froth. Very slow carbonation. German hop aroma met with wet grass and bready malts. Sharp, tingly and bracingly crisp. Nice initial hop charge of spicy Hallertau. Lemon rind aftertaste. Light body. Quenching, dry malt flavor of toasted white bread. Gentle slickness. Clean, fresh tasting with no residue. Finishes with mineral hints and a toasty counter to the hop bitterness. Very nice.

Rather enjoyed this. Nice straw color. Expected bready malts in the aroma and taste but also with a slight bit of citrus hops

A well-built pilsener and unlike the typical American micro interpretation of the style (Victory, Tupper, North Coast). This adheres rigidly to the German Pils framework. Tasts much like Einbecker or perhaps Bitburger. Fills out its frame marvelously. Would like to drink this in quantity.
