Formerly Sudwerk Pilsner.

A Northern German-style Pilsner brewed in Northern California. Our pilsner is brewed entirely with pale two-row Weyermann, true to the style. A special blend of Bavarian Hallertauer and Tettnanger hops are used during brewing, adding to the sharp finish. Winner of the coveted “Brewers Choice” award for 25 consecutive years and counting.

This one is a pretty classically done Pilsner - so as such it does not do a whole lot for me, though I have to give them credit for accuracy. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright straw yellow color with a huge creamy white head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was dryish cereal and light crisp perfumey and grassy hops. The flavor was tangy and citric with a sourdough bread undertone and crisp herbal hops. The finish was medium length and tangy with lingering bread and herbal hops. Light body. Ok.

Little aroma and only a vague malt flavor. Made for the Bud drinkers I guess. Good light pils but without distinction.

Clear gold, gentle white head. Bready, but even moreso grainy aroma from an unsteady pilsner malt, hesitating between taking the lead through pure grain flavours or letting the perfumey, leafy and lemony. Light bodied, fairly bitter, but still relatively sweet.

Light sweet bready aroma with good grassy notes. Clean pils aroma. Pours pale yellow with a thinnish head that leaves after a while. Sweet and bready up front, somewhat sweet grassy notes in the finish. Light peppery bitterness rounds it out. Rather light, drinkable, and clean.

Draft as part of a flight at Sudwerk in Davis, CA. Clear straw yellow with off-white head. Aromas of light skunk, corn, wheat. Tastes of pears, citrus, wheat. Medium-light body with a dry finish.

12 oz. bottle. It pours a very effervescent clear yellow color with a disappearing white head. The aroma is very floral and minerally. The flavor is the same with a nice noble hop presence and a clean palate. A little bit of aspirin in the finish that throws it a bit off for me. I’m not sure if this is the new version of their old Pilsner, but I liked the previous one better.

Pours golden yellow with a nice white head. The aroma is bready/grainy with some sweet corn and some grassy, noble hops. The flavor is pretty big with a full body and some bread and corn. Strong noble hop presence offsets the sweetness. The finish is nice with some earthy bitterness and a touch of sulfer. Overall, a nice flavorful pils that’s just a little too sweet for my tastes.

Pours light clear yellow with smaller white head. The aroma has pale pils malt, spicy hops, light herbs and touch of dough. It has a light crisp body with fairly sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with cry malt, bright minty hops, grass, minerals and crackery malt. The finish is fairly astringent. Pretty good.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Colonial Wine and Spirits, 9/13/11

Aroma: The nose is german malts, grass, cereal, and a little floral hops
Appearance: It pours a clear yellow color with a fizzy white head and streaky lace
Flavor: The taste is balanced betweem the crisp, cereal malts and floral hops
Palate: The body is light and crisp with a fairly clean mouthfeel and lively carbonation
Overall Impression: Honestly, I didn’t think this was a bad pilsner at all. It had a pretty decent flavor, it was on style, and it had a crisp and clean mouthfeel. It’s fairly simple, and not particularly interesting, but it works for what it is trying to be, so I’d drink this one again.

This is a decent pils, but not outstanding. Crisp but not a real distinctive to the flavor otherwise. Still, impressed with Sudwerk.
