3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 grant (842) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - FEB 10, 2004
A fine enough pilsener. Quite pale body; not as golden as Urquell or Budvar, but it's of no matter. Aroma is off spice (cilantro) and freshly cut peppers. Come to think of it, this would pair great w/ Mexican food. Flavor is sweet and streamlined; for some reason I think of wheat field waving in the wind. Yeah, whatever. Finishes super-clean with a pleasant tinge of yeast. Finely executed.

Clear gold, gentle white head. Bready, but even moreso grainy aroma from an unsteady pilsner malt, hesitating between taking the lead through pure grain flavours or letting the perfumey, leafy and lemony. Light bodied, fairly bitter, but still relatively sweet.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 FlacoAlto (3450) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - SEP 25, 2007
Bottle Date of 07.18.07, Sampled September 2007
Pours with a frothy, initially three-finger thick, lightly tanned, white colored head that sits atop a brilliantly clear, gold colored brew. The aroma is fairly grass-like; the hops mostly accentuate this character, but even the malt contributes to it. Other aromatic notes of lemon grass, soda crackers, crushed pale malt and a touch of something like fresh cut weeds / wild flowers are also found in the nose.
Crisp, with a nice hop bit. The beer tastes quite dry up front, but does pick up a touch of malt sweetness towards the middle. The beer finishes with a clean, biting bitterness that really cuts through the palate. Touches of herbal hop character join with a hint of lemon zest, but I definitely feel like this could use a bit more late hop additions to round the beer out a bit. This is quite in line with the German style of Pilsner though. The malt character is fairly simple and plays a supporting role here; a touch of soda cracker malt character, hints of biscuit notes and wisps of honeyed malt sweetness. This is nice and light on the palate, and with its light body is quite easy to quaff a couple.
This is a pretty decent version of a Pilsner, one which I will be happy to drink again. It just seems to not hit the level of a great Pilsner though; something is a bit lacking.

Light golden color. Aroma of grainy malts, hops and apple. Smooth and refreshing with a bitter finish. Fairly carbonated and medium bodied.

12 ounce bottle poured into a pilsener glass. Pours clear pale gold with a fluffy white head leaving some spotty lacing. Aroma is nice fresh bread, none of that corny character you get with lesser pilseners. Very bread crusty. Flavor is grainy and bready with light floral hops, maybe even a miniscule fruity tinge. Not really a snappy crisp beer; body is a tad bloated for the style. Minor bitterness, a little sticky on the finish. Nothing special.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Colonial Wine and Spirits, 9/13/11
Aroma: The nose is german malts, grass, cereal, and a little floral hops
Appearance: It pours a clear yellow color with a fizzy white head and streaky lace
Flavor: The taste is balanced betweem the crisp, cereal malts and floral hops
Palate: The body is light and crisp with a fairly clean mouthfeel and lively carbonation
Overall Impression:
Honestly, I didn’t think this was a bad pilsner at all. It had a pretty decent flavor, it was on style, and it had a crisp and clean mouthfeel. It’s fairly simple, and not particularly interesting, but it works for what it is trying to be, so I’d drink this one again.

Pours a bright yellow in the pils glass. Aroma is muted but this is a nice crisp pilsner. Grain taste lingers in the back. Super easy to drink. A good take on a hard style to get right.
