COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The 2nd creation in the 20th Anniversary Signature Series is a salute to the loyal customers who have supported Sudwerk over the past two decades. While conducting "field research" at a Brewhaus in Bavaria, our wise Brewmaster, Jay Prahl, decided to craft this rare style of Pilsner. Our Brewmaster began with one of our most celebrated, award winning brews - the Pilsner - and "imperialized" it. He increased the hops and malts to bring you a bolder, stronger, hoppier Pilsner that packs a subtle punch. Brewed using royal Hallertau Perle Hops and Pilsner Malt, the Imperial Pils is a harmonious mix of crispy malt and fresh hop flavors. This gilded elixir has a rich golden color, a fluffy body and a pillowy head - creating a perfect bed of grainy goodness. From tailgate parties to Aristocratic soirees, this brew is great for any occasion. Surrender your sense to the Imperial Pils...sip, savor, and enjoy!

"lots of cereal malts and grassy hops in the nose and flavor. a pretty nice beer, but i’m not quite sold on a Sudwerk beer at a premium price. they do nothing poorly, but nothing great either."

Tap: clear, golden and very light head. No real lace. Lifted nose. Mix of malt and hop aromas. Lovely complexity. Malt profile is very pale and similar to a Munich lager. Clean fresh nose. Dry palate. Not sour. Moderate to high bitterness. Nice depth. Long. Very fruity palate. Flavors like Riesling. Just to bitter but the flavor is great.

Bottle poured into a tulip. Pours a straw yellow with two fingers of off-white head. Aromas of lemon/lime citrus fruit and peel, wheat, floral and herbal notes. Tastes of lemon/lime citrus, light tropical fruit, floral hops, light pine, wheat. Light-medium body with a dry finish.

On draft at the brewery. It pours a clear, light gold color with a white head. The aroma is light with touches of sweet bread and honey. Light floral notes. The flavor is nicely balanced with sweet honey bread malts and bitter, floral spicy German hops. Clean finish. Nice one.

Pours a cloudy yellow orange color with white head. Malt, grass, hop and floral aroma and flavors. Light body and lots of carbonation. Grassy malt finish.

Bottle:   Golden, thin sudsy white head, little lacing.   HUGE grassy nose.   Getting straw, hay, and maybe even alfalfa.   I have never smelled anything so... well... grass like.   Nice sweet grassy malts up front.   Lots of sweetness.   Not as strong as the nose suggested, and thankfully not dank or musty.   Bright on the tongue, yet sweet.   Body and mouthfeel are full bodied.   Soft dry grassy finish.   Very minor honey and pale bready notes.   Smells a bit offputting, but thankfully the sweetness and lack of ubergrass helps this beer out.   Still, happy to share this bomber as I am unsure I could do it by myself.

Bottle from Bevmo: Created a small layer of foam head while the liquid was a sparkling golden blonde. As for the nose, there was grassy grained malt and true authentic European hops. The flavor is considerably sweet with a light crisp taste of European hops, grained malt and a heavy background of alcohol.

Poured minimal head on a hazy medium straw colored body. It smells like a barnyard and wet hay, though in the best way. The taste is big malt bill tempered by some lemon bitterness; fairly sweet overall. A soft texture with some crispness and low carbonation. It’s full bodied and good.

Appearance: Crystal clear, pale gold with a white head. Aroma: Grassy, with initial sulphur notes. Flavor: Malty with a huge hop presence - long bitter finish

Bomber. Skunky aroma and taste. Probably an old bottle judging from the dates on the other posts. Grass with light bitterness. Hard to find any malts. Dry finish.
