Flight at Japanese resto in Chevy Chase, MD. Nice water color with no head. Nose is of rice, slightly alcy. Nice sweet flavour with coconut and other flavors. Oily and nice rice filmy texture to it. My favorite of the three sampled.

>> Pours clear with minimal legs and low watery viscosity. Fresh garden and strawberry nose. Least boozy flavor of our sake tasting flight so chose to split a whole bottle of this one. Super clean and ricey taste, medium dry finish. Paired with food, it becomes much fruitier, no alcohol bite, juicy plum and pineapple. Clean finish. Quite nice.

720 ml bottle from Seijo Ishii. Hiyaoroshi version made from Akiagari rice. Nose if rice, a touch of caramel, stone fruits. Flavor is sweet rice and stewed fruits, peach, apricot, and a slight alcohol burn. Nice silky body. Good. Not terribly unique, but very solid.

UPDATED: MAR 7, 2013 Bottle at Benihana, pours like water, maybe a little gold tinted. No head or lacing. Nose is peach, pineapple, wood, and light anise. Flavor is citrus, rice, grain, vanilla and vodka. So much booze and bland. I have tried about 5 sakes in my life and I am now ready to give up on them. Just too much heat and not enough aroma or flavor profile. This mostly reminded me of watered down cheap vodker. Pass

Bottle 300ml.

Clear cristal water colour with virtually no head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy rice, coconut rice, light to moderate alcohol. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, fruity, rice, alcohol, coconut, pineapple notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. Bottle at Papsř tasting. Crystal clear with a very mellow, vaguely spicey rice-aroma. Clean cut, very subbtle, light rice-sweetness, with an intriguing gentle licorice finish.

Thanks to Jan for this bottle. A clear sake with an aroma of Marmite, alcohol and coconut rice. Alcohol is fairly present with similar flavours. A lingering pineapple character with quite a dry finish. A long alcohol hum also. Very nice.

Bottle at cgarvieuk’s Danish Invasion tasting. Very light viscous clear pour, slightly straw coloured at the edges. Nice fresh nose, touch of coconut, light vanilla, nice cooked rice characteristic. Nicely dry and clean up-front, very light coconut, nice rice, very subtle perfume, maybe even grapefruit, slightly tannic rice finish. Nice and dry.

Bottle at Papsř’s - Thanks. Clear watery - no head. Minerals, cedar tree, fruity, rice, light sweetness, alcoholic, lovely fresh cedar arome... the taste is a bit too sharp.
