Very tasty slightly bitter porter. Good flavour and right amount of body not too heavy or insubstantial
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 WeissGary (174) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - NOV 6, 2012
Quite a sessionable Scottish porter. Pours black, thin head. Fairly malty aroma and oat taste.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Kåstå (1274) - Mol, BELGIUM - SEP 15, 2012
On tap at the Counting House, Glasgow. Medium dark beer with a small head. The taste is chocolate and roasted malt. Not the greatest beer around.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BlackHaddock (2365) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - AUG 5, 2012
Third Sulwath bottle of the evening: 500ml just out of date when opened on 4th Aug 2012.
Dark brown with no ruby red hints I could find: on top a full and fairly deep head of tan coloured foam.
Burnt malts of course rule the nose and taste: coffee, dark chocolate and liquorice all in the flavours.
Not rich or creamy, but far from watery, a medium depth of body I suppose. OK more than great.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Nuffield (3348) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - JUL 21, 2012
Malts, roasted and rich, drive the flavor with chocolate and campfire. I don’t get quite the same degree of satisfaction from the aroma. Very thin in the UK style--thinner than a US porter would offer. Reasonably pleasant anyway. (cask at the Scottish Real Ale Festival, Edinburgh, June 2012)
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 pivoveskotsku (201) - SCOTLAND - JUL 21, 2012
Cask. Very dark brown, coffee and dark chocolate aroma, taste is sweet, some bitterness and roasted malt. Liquorice is certainly in there. Not too bad.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 oh6gdx (18576) - Vasa, FINLAND - APR 26, 2012
Bottled. Deep ambery brown colour with a mediumsized creamy/fluffy head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is nutty, chocolaty, mild ashy with some liquorice. Flavour is rather similar. Pleasant, and quite bodied for being 4.4 %.
