Bottle at Euston Tap. It pours opaque dark brown, with a medium tan head. The nose is big on the ginger, roasted malt, smoke, dark fruit, berry, liquorice and wood. The taste is dark fruit, berry, spice, ginger cake, wood, roasted malt, caramel, charcoal and cacao. Medium-full body, moderate carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Interesting, flavoursome and well balanced. Delicious!

Bottle, 8.6%. Good ginger aroma, quite roasted. Black colour, seems cloudy. Small frothy brown head. The flavour is roasted with a good ginger note. Is a little citric, sourish from the hops, it seems.

Bottle. Pours cloudy dark brown with small tan head. Clear, dusty aroma of roasted malt and ginger. Sweetish, smoky and spicy flavour of malt and ginger. A rather disturbing and unbalanced mixture. Drinkable and decent but I could have expected more.

Black pour. Giant tan head. Creamy and lasting. Some lacing. Huge nose of ginger with some notes of chocolate. Smells like stir fry. Big taste of ginger and a handful of earth. Not bad. Might complement some Mongolian BBQ. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle@home from bottleshop
pours a dark garner black with a fluffy tan stockings head. Sweet stem ginger battles dry dusty cocoa and rich burnt toast roast barley for nasal supremacy. Underneath that us a meaty umami note that makes this a savoury beer. Medium carbonation plays on the tip of the tongue, chocolate, followed by spicy stem ginger, a touch of lactose sweetness then peppery ginger all over the tongue. A touch of chalk and peppermint and mature cheddar wraps up the finish.

Draught at MacKinley’s Inn, Stockholm. Black, small head. Aroma of ginger and licorice. Dryish with clean mouthfeel and medium body. Crystal malt flavour, licorice and ginger. Salty finish with more ginger.

(Draught at MacKinlay’s Inn, Stockholm, 6 Feb 2013) Black colour with brief, brown head. Malty, spicy nose with notes of ginger, dark bread, coffee and dark chocolate. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, dark chocolate, ginger, dark bread and a dry finish with a spicy bitterness. Almost full body, quite dry. Very nice stout with a impressive ginger character shining through, but still staying very well balanced.

Keg at Bat. Dark viscous brown black, creamy beige brown head. Gingerbread, currants, fruit cake, dark bready roast on the nose. Slightly sweet, definite gingerbread, cake spice, robust roasty backbone, nice clean roasty bitter finish. Good, really quite unique.
