Bottle. Nose is Rye, Raison, soy sauce (!), toast, touch of chocolate mats. Taste is cocoa, some summer fruits from the belgian yeast, leading to salt, licorice, resin and a lasting bitter finish. Mouthfeel is medium. A very nice BIPA (which is still a very silly style)

Bottle from A Tutta Birra, Milan, bb 30/6/2013
Dark brown color with huge brownish head. The aroma is pungent, there is some British yeast more than Belgian, evident sourness, some earthy feeling. It’s too much carbonated; there is flavor of roasted malt, strong bitterness, mild oranges, light peppery note; but the sourness is quite evident and out of place.
Was this really intended?

Keg @ Jolly Butchers 2013/4/1 Very good pitch black Saisonesque brew. Dispense lets it down on this occasion. No head retention. Aroma and taste really interesting and really good. A strong beer that I could drink all night.

Draught @ GEIB, Grande Esposizione Italiane della Birra 2012, Nuova Fiera di Roma, via Portuense 1645, Rome, Italy 00100.

Light unclear dark brown colour with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate, coffee, moderate to heavy hoppy, grapefruit, orange - citrus, light pine. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. IMO. how i more or lees want a BIPA to be, dark malts and nice hoppy in aroma, flavor that are nice hoppy and fresh .. well amde ;O) [20121215]

Opaque black beer, tidy tan head. Semi crisp palate, a little dry. Smooth dark malt with mild coffee. Trace of rye spice. Piney hops - tangy and bitter. A little sweet orange in there. Whispers of esters and Belgian yeast. Smooth finish. Interesting beer, like the concept and the execution.

Big old head, coffee, dark and beautiful, full of mouth, lingering fruity goodness. Must be the rye. Ripper.

ekstedt (4540) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JAN 19, 2013
Draught at The Rover, Göteborg, Sweden. Black with small beige head. Lightly roasted coffee aromas, piney and perfumy hops. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Semi dry with medium bitterness.

CEZ (393) - Milano, ITALY - JAN 11, 2013
Huge brown compact head if not poured correctly! Almost pitch black body. Light roasted cereals and strong herbal notes. Inital chocolate malts barely detectable. Taste is dominated by citric and resinous hops, salty licorice, strongly bitter and tarty, slightly astringent. Medium body. Long lasting bitter and sourish finish. A tad unbalanced even for a black IPA but still full of character. Loved it.
