Bottle 330ml @Beer Hunters
Opaque black color, tiny beigeish head. Licorice and petrol in the nose. Light to medium bodied. Licorice caramel, burned malts, fusels and some rye. A bit flattish palate. Combination of flavors don’t work.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled. Black beer, huge beige head. Complex nose has loads of earthy yeast, barnyard, complementary, fresh juicy and resiny hops and a mixture of exotic dryfruits. Slightly liquoricy roast-malts in the background. Some plummy notes appear when it is warm enough. Dry, bitter flavor. Round, slightly bready maltiness (from munich malts?). Roastedness is quite light. Sour yeasty finish has distinctive flavor of bretta. And some lingering, slightly resiny bitterness. Medium body, slightly oily and highly carbonated texture. I don’t know if the sourness was intentional in this one, but for me it really works. Magnificent beer, very complex.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Dram Shop, Sheffield. Very nearly black. Mountainous, thick, tan head. Aroma has a big hoppy, grapefruit bitterness. Sweet, dark fruit. Some dark, roast malt. Taste is all that, but toned down. Good body. Good amount of carbonation. All good stuff, but lacks balance for me. A bit like two good beers poured into the same glass.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep brown black body with a thick beige head. Aroma of light, floral hops, a hint of bubblegum, nice roast malt. Light sweet with a light sour and bitter finish. Lovely thick, oily texture, with light carbonation, full body. Excellent beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours jet black, caramel subsides quickly, not as much hop aroma as I was expecting, possibly over powered by everything else going on here. roasty and rye full, even getting a shriaz tinge on the nose and tongue. nice bitter punch at the end. Very interesting.

3.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Complex and dusty aroma. Interesting spice and good bitterness up front, but a little lacking in body.
