2013-11-29. Black body with a lovely foamy chocolate milk coloured head. Aroma is a touch odd, alcohol, whisper of iodine, mild roast, coffee notes. Flavour is similar, tangy iodine like whiskey notes, mild roast, dark malt core, coffee, moderate bitterness in the finish grows and lingers. Average plus bodied palate, soft carbonation. Good beer, not for me. Bottle shared by HogTownHarry

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a deep oily mahogany with a frothy tan head. The aroma is big roasted malt, coffee and boozy alcohol. The flavour is strong bitter with a creamy bitter liqourice smoky palate with a smooth creamy mouthfeel and a long bitter finish. The alcohol is very well controlled. A superb imperial stout.

Note: somehow I forgot to enter this rating, noticed when I looked up Kopikat and saw only one of the two versions ticked. Good thing I keep my notebooks. :-)

33cl, as Kopi Kat ’1997 Clynelish Barrel’, new exclusive English brew Anno 2012, with coffee, from The Bottle Shop Canterbury, very complex Stout, roasted/woody and slightly malt/spicy, yet not too heavy, balanced, cloudy, good head, very good brew, yet very expensive!

Bottle from Utobeer. Pours pitch black with a medium, dark tan head which lasts and lasts. Damn thick lacing. Nose shows light peat, vanilla, cinnamon and bitter cocoa. Very thick and creamy palate, very sticky with a bit of heat and sharp bitterness. Taste shows a light mix of spice and vanilla, heavy chocolate, whiskey, booze is definitely there. Solid stuff but it’s a pretty hot
