2/VII/13 - 33cl bottle @ De Hopduvel (Gent) - BB: 31/XII/13 (2013-899) Thanks to Bobochamp for sharing the bottle!

Note: somehow I forgot to enter this rating, noticed when I looked up Kopikat and saw only one of the two versions ticked. Good thing I keep my notebooks. :-)

Clear dark purple brown beer, no head. Aroma: sweet, caramel, mocha, bit sugary, alcohol, vanilla, dried fruits, toast, coffee, some bubble gum, some vegetables. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: little sour, fruity, dark forest fruits, red wine, bit sweet, caramel. Aftertaste: bit boozy, sugary, alcohol, caramel, sour dark red fruits, blackberries, hoppy ending, some jam, boozy. Desert in a bottle!

33cl, as Kopi Kat ’1997 Clynelish Barrel’, new exclusive English brew Anno 2012, with coffee, from The Bottle Shop Canterbury, very complex Stout, roasted/woody and slightly malt/spicy, yet not too heavy, balanced, cloudy, good head, very good brew, yet very expensive!

Bottle from Utobeer. Pours pitch black with a medium, dark tan head which lasts and lasts. Damn thick lacing. Nose shows light peat, vanilla, cinnamon and bitter cocoa. Very thick and creamy palate, very sticky with a bit of heat and sharp bitterness. Taste shows a light mix of spice and vanilla, heavy chocolate, whiskey, booze is definitely there. Solid stuff but it’s a pretty hot

Bottle. My first from this brewery. Medium head with a strong coffee aroma which hits you when the bottle is opened. Powerful coffee and chocolate flavours.Uncompromising and hard hitting. A very good one.

Balanced peat flavor, ash, whiskey, woody, coffee, dark chocolate, roasted, milky notes, caramel, licorice, salty, figs, some warming alcohol, cigarettes, soot. Very fullbodied and well balanced. Salty roasted finish with tar, ash, whiskey, woody notes and some peat. Really heavy and still balanced. Really, really good.

Black color with giant brownish creamy head. The aroma is initially coffeish, then hints of cream, cold ember, fireplace, some alcohol, spicy, herbal (mint and basil), late hint of cheese; pungent overall; original.
It’s full bodied, yet the mouthfeel is quite lean, and smooth; the flavor of roasted malt and chocolate is very rich, with minimal residual sweetness, maybe some ashes too, more evident in the final; strong expected bitterness level, with hidden hop resins; the final is more roasty, still smooth, with a touch of liquorice, and a bit yeasty; alcohol warmth.
Excellent modern example; the whiskey is not evident.
Tasted side to side with the Caol Ila, this one is more vibrant and richer.

Bottle shared at Ma Che, Roma, 09/02/13. From SBW online. Rich black with a thin tan head that dissipates to the edge. Nose is a big coffee hit, molasses, touch of liqourice, chocolate, dark malts. Taste is a big espresso coffee hit, molasses, liqourice, chocolate, coffee beans, a subtle whisky presence. Full bodied, soft carbonation, dry finish. Excellent stuff - the alcohol is well integrated - could revisit this time and again!

Botella. Totally black colour, small light brown head. Aroma: sweet well roasted maltiness with chocolate and some whisky. Good mouthfeel. Sweet roasted maltiness with chocolate and whisky in the flavour with dark fruits.
