Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours an opaque black with a small and creamy brown head leaving a little lacework. Solid, thick roasty nose, not all that burned though. A little whisky too - and manure. Solid body, hard roast, dark dried fruit, rustic woodiness with quite some alcohol in the finish. Rustic but good. 301112

Opaque black beer, good fluffy tan head. Palate is airy and semi dry with modest fine carbonation. The dark malts are surprisingly thin and there is a strong bitterness, not roast malt derived, perhaps the wood. Unsweet dark fruits and mild but bitter whiskey. Light dry bitter finish. No shades of light here and I found it a little hard to drink.

Black color with giant brownish creamy head. The aroma is initially coffeish, then hints of cream, cold ember, fireplace, some alcohol, spicy, herbal (mint and basil), late hint of cheese; pungent overall; original.
It’s full bodied, yet the mouthfeel is quite lean, and smooth; the flavor of roasted malt and chocolate is very rich, with minimal residual sweetness, maybe some ashes too, more evident in the final; strong expected bitterness level, with hidden hop resins; the final is more roasty, still smooth, with a touch of liquorice, and a bit yeasty; alcohol warmth.
Excellent modern example; the whiskey is not evident.
Tasted side to side with the Caol Ila, this one is more vibrant and richer.
