1.1 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
Acidic aroma. Decent colour and head. Flavour is a total mess, acrid bitterness and over-the-top coffee notes. Far too much going on and not blended well at all. Unpleasant bitter finish. Classic example of trying too hard. very poor.

3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask at CBC Brixton. Pours a dark coca-cola colour with a red tinge and an off white head. Not much in the way of an aroma at all. Slight breadlines perhaps. Medium body, mild carbonation. Red fruits, a little milk choc and a mild citrus bitter finish. OK.

As real ale at Kittyís in Helsinki. Black, big bubbly head. Roasted coffee. Light sweetness and medium bitterness. Very smooth and drinkable. My first real ale in a long time, so probably that raises my points a tad.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Rutland Arms, Sheffield. Black - no real surprise there. Weak coffee aroma and a really smooth feel. Taste is coffee malt but mild and drinkable. Lacks complexity but a nice beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Black with essentially no head (a little beige foam around the side of the glass). Aroma of roast malt and strong, black coffee. Taste was nice enough, light sweet, bitter finish. A bit thin on the palate, light oily texture, low carbonation. I wish it was a bit thicker & with a bit more body. Pleasant enough, but could have a bit more going on; a little one-dimensional.
