330ml bottle. Dark brown colour with average, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Dark malty aroma with hints of chocolate and dark fruit. Taste is minimally sweet dark malty, notes of dark fruit, blueberry, blackcurrant, hints of dark chocolate, dry, roasty finish; relatively lively carbonation. Good.

Acidic aroma. Decent colour and head. Flavour is a total mess, acrid bitterness and over-the-top coffee notes. Far too much going on and not blended well at all. Unpleasant bitter finish. Classic example of trying too hard. very poor.

Bottle. Nose is lactose, malt and back of the cupboard. Not as strong as I was expecting. Taste, is malty, with a lovely hazelnut/coffee taste to the fore, leading to a smooth, bitter, nutty finish. The taste is undercut with vanilla and the faintest hint of dark cocoa. For a porter, it is surprisingly lacking in sweetness, but given the current fashion for high strength high sugar beers I found this a really welcome change.
Overall I really enjoyed this beer, it is not the most complex. but does what intends superbly. The bitter finish is what makes this a good beer. SWB is rapidly becoming a favorite brewer.

Bottle @Linköping Beer Expo 2013. Aroma is burnt and a bit winey. Taste is astringent, alcohol and fruit acid. Long bitter finish.

Pours dark with a tan head. Body looks pretty thin. The nose is roasted Sumatran coffee, chocolate, raisin and a little metallic. Taste is sweet, bitter but also slightly tart. Maybe I got a bad bottle. The mouthfeel is crisp and not so clean. The body is light and finish is long. Hope I can try this again sometime.

Keg at BrewDog Birmingham; dark brown pour, off white head, roast malt aroma, sweet malt flavour, a pleasant hop bite some winter berries really good porter.

This was a pretty impressive beer for me, pretty easy going, flavoursome and full character! Pure black body, bready white head. Just a lovely malty aroma, great thick and slick mouth feel, semi-sour taste on the palate, lovely caramel middle taste and a quick and quiet tapering off on the tongue leaving a hint of coffee taste! Again, this beer impressed me, not least because it was in the bargain bin - it’s a full charactered beer with a lovely developed taste and a easy drinking experience!!

Very dark brown with a medium tan head. Malty with fruity notes. Malt, fruit and coffee. Medium to light body with a nice bitter after taste.
