Summit Extra Pale Ale is not a beer brewed only for beer snobs. Just the opposite. It’s a beer for everyone to enjoy: construction workers, stock brokers, farmers, sales people, clerks, teachers, lawyers, doctors, even other brewers. Its light bronze color and distinctly hoppy flavor have made it a favorite in St. Paul, Minneapolis and the rest of the Upper Midwest ever since we first brewed it back in 1986.

Draft, Minneapolis. Nice to see a larger craft brewer whose flagship brand is not the usual pale pilsner. And nice to see that it's readily available on tap in the Twin Cities (it's even on a few taps here in Chicago). A pleasing amber/copper color, toasty malty sweetness and a refined hop spiciness... definitely not IPA level, but enough to tell the novice beer drinker there's another world out there. Great with those Matt's hamburgers with the cheese fried inside the patty (a Minneapolis tradition my brother introduced me to)!

12 oz bottle. Tasted on 5/24/15. Bottle courtesy of Espo. This one was ok ... Just an average extra pale ale with very little hops & a pretty bland overall flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This is great. Rich and creamy texture. Light brown in colour. Lightly bitter. Caramel and lots of it.

Rich orange-gold, moderate head. Smell is some caramel and toffee, flavor is much the same with some roasted notes and crisp hop freshness. A good standard ale.

Draft in Minneapolis. Pours a clear, orange caramel with a white head that sticks. Aroma is faint with hints of pine, caramel, and traditional hops. Taste is balanced. Mild caramel, hints of pine, resin, citrus, and more traditional hops. Medium body and carbonation. Clean with a very alight resin texture with a soft carbonation. Overall a pretty standard brew but great after a flight from Toronto to Minneapolis!

Not too bad. Smooth, malty. Very easy to drink. Light to medium body, flavor, and mouthfeel. This would is probably liked by most.

Nostalgia dominates my perception of Summit’s EPA. While the rest of the kids were drinking trash beer, I was always thankful that our locals had this on tap. For anyone from the midwest, this needs to be on your bucket list.
