COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hidden in the cold ground in the dark of winter, lie little seeds of hope. So, to help hasten the spring thaw, we give you an ale bursting with the spicy goodness of malted rye and floral, citrusy hops. An in-between-seasons seasonal, if you will. Coming soon to a beer cooler or pub near you.

Pours a clear, dark amber to brown color with a 2 finger, creamy to soapy beige head that has great retention and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is toast and nutty notes and spicy, grainy rye right away, then nice caramel notes and spicy and citrus hops. Flavor is caramel, spicy rye and chocolate up front, some nutty notes, lingering grainy and spicy notes, citrus, pine and spicy hops to the finish. Medium body creamy feel throughout, but with an underlying hoppy acidic bite, medium, fairly blanketing carbonation. Good stuff overall, nice balance leaning towards the hops, but with a nice implementation of lots or rye character.

On tap at Rhombus Guys Grand Forks. Reddish body. Metallic, malty, but subtle and watery. A touch of cocoa. Not great.

From a 12 oz into a chalice. Pours a very nice dark copper. Little head or lacing. Good deep rye malty aroma. Mouthfeel is thick but not syrupy. Taste is like an amber ale with some rye and modest hops thrown in. Meh. Very underwhelming. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pour on tap at Republic, hazy orange pour with white head, aroma brought big spicy rye, dough, toast into a bit of bready, caramel, some slight orange peel with a touch of grass. Taste was a mix of orange, grass, some caramel dough into a bit of earth, slight grain, finishing slightly bitter, more rye spice.

Dark amber, 1 inch slightly off-white head. Dissipates fairly slowly with some lacing. Odor is very good, a bit grassy, with subtle spice. Relatively highly carbonated. Bitter hoppy initial taste and bitter aftertaste. This is quite a bitter beer - a spicy bitter, but still bitter. Substantial mouth feel, with a difficult to describe malt foundation behind the spicy bitterness.

On tap at Crave. Definitely get the rye, spices, malt. Pretty decent but will probably get an Extra Pale Ale next.

UPDATED: JAN 27, 2015 Crazy rye smell, sort of ropey with a little dark chocolate. Taste great, straw and rope again. Chocolate. Looks beautiful too ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a deep amber with a slight off white head. Aroma of spice and grain bin gra8nd that almost overwhelm. It really reminds me of shoveling grain in 90 degree heat. The hops do not compliment the grains. It has a nice body though.
