GMUcrew7 (171), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Apr 29, 2008 Pours nice dark color with small dark tan head. Aroma is chocolaty, and coffee malts. A very nice roasty aroma that carries over quite nicely to the flavor. Very nice balance of the coffee and chocolate flavors, with a good (if somewhat light) body. Very enjoyable porter.
Gregis (884), Overland Park, Kansas, USA Jul 22, 2008 Bottle purchased at John’s Grocery in Iowa City, IA. Pours a dark burgundy with a fluffy, pitted, beige head that laces nicely. The nose is of roasty malt and cocoa, light tobacco and faint coffee. Light-bodied and creamy-slick with a dry, roasted, bitter finish. Roasted malt, chocolate, dark roasted coffee and faint toffee. This is a pretty decent porter and is certainly worth trying if you enjoy the style. aoa56 (17), zeeland, Michigan, USA Jul 13, 2008 Pours a dark brown with a medium dirty white head. Has a roasted coffee nose and a smooth malty aftertaste. Thinner than it looks but with good flavor. esjaygee (721), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jun 30, 2008 Dark brown with a medium off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and bread. Taste of roasted malts, coffee and mild chocolate. Grainy texture that’s semi-watery and has a mild bitter finish. jbuzz (449), South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jun 20, 2008 Single from Three Cellars Milwaukee.
Dark quickly dissipating head. The Beer itself is very dark in color. Rich great full body taste that is slightly sweet. The carbonation has a small bite.
crowderm (154), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Jun 6, 2008 Looks pretty nice, dark brown, big tan head. Aroma is mostly malty, with a little bit of toffee sweetness. The flavor is kind of a let down - tons of chalky, roasted malt, not much of anything else. Sure, there is a little bit of chocolate and toffee in there, but the malt character really dominates. Pretty watery for a porter. Not a big fan.
