COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Summit Hefe Weizen is brewed with a high percentage of malted wheat, then a small amount of authentic German weizen yeast is left behind to help maintain its brewery freshness. And that’s what accounts for Hefe Weizen’s unique cloudy appearance.

Lemons, yeast and a hint of wheat grain in the aroma while the appearance is medium gold and slightly hazy. The flavor is of bananas/lemons and yeasty. Not a bad hefeweizen, just a little boring.

Tap. Light clear orange pour, quickly disolving carbonation and a light banana yeast aroma. Flavor is slightly soured banana, light sweet sugar and a finished with a little clove. Ok, but a far cry from a good representation of the style.

Bottle to pint glass. Swirled halfway through the pour to re-suspend yeast. Pour is a hazy straw gold, with a billowing white head that slowly fades to decent lacing. Aroma is light banana, some cloves, decent slug of yeast. Also some nice white grape notes in there as well. Taste is more yeast forward, with the same cloves and spice present in larger volumes. Mouthfeel is slightly sweet and a bit chalky. Slight astringent finish. Not a bad beer.

tap pours hazy gold with a medium white head. Aroma and flavor are strong yeast esters of banana and spice with grassy grains.

12 oz. bottle from HVWS poured into a 12 oz. glass. I’ve also had about 8 pints of this at Old Chicago- this review also applies to the beer on tap, which is very similar.
Aroma: Very yeasty. Cloves also present in high amounts.
Appearance: Appropriately cloudy. 1.5" of sudsy white foam that sticks around for a long time. Mid-orange color.
Taste: Just excellent. Sweet start, with somewhat bitter finish. Flavors are more clove than banana, bananas are subtle until the beer warms, when they really flourish.
Palate: Lively, medium body.
Overall: American breweries typically struggle to do a good Hefe. This is an exception. Great bouquet of flavors, just right on the mark. Quite sessionable. Try enjoying this beer warm (around 50 F). You’ll be pleasantly surprised. 4.2 overall.

Bottle. Pour is cloudy yellow with a soapy white head that fades to a film. Aroma is malty yeast bread and and lemon. Taste is hops bread and yeast with a little lemon bitterness in the end. Palate is thin to medium and fizzy with a chaulky dry finish.

12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy golden pour with a decent frothy whitish head. Laces ok as it dies to a smallish film. Aromas are touches of bananas, lemons, with touches of stale bread dough. Touches of citrusy fruit, lemons. Initial is bananas and fruity apples, bread dough. Stronger on sweet fruity esters, bread dough, lemons and banana. Into the middle a bit thinner with touches of bitterness, fruity esters, banana, touches of cloves. Finish throws touches of tart fruit, flaked wheat and bready malts. Fairly clean and fruity, sweeter edges Hefe lacking complexity and thick, rich flavors. Ok American version, a bit thin with vanilla, honey, banana. Too sweet but thin for my liking.. Strange..
