3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Deep amber body. Frothy, off-white head, mostly lasting. Aroma of raw hops, resin, grapefruit, toasted grain, dough. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Resinous, slightly husky. Leafy hop taste from the dry hopping. The hops take center stage in this amber ale. Average.

On tap while watching the Vikings lose in the playoffs. Great local beer that melds the expectations with the red coloring with some nice hops.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
From the bottle. Aroma is citrus, with balance of hops, malts, and some floral. Taste is bold hops and carbonation when cold and fresh, which mellows a lot as it warms. Plenty of malt balance, missing from most hoppy beers. Tasty overall with good aftertaste.

Pours a reddish orange with a one finger white head. Nose is hops, orange and spice. Taste is rye, malt and hops. Very nice red ale that I will buy again.

Like many ambers, this is very simple. As the description says, the aspects of this beer seem segregated: you can swish it around in your mouth and say "okay, there’s the malt, there’s the hops..." The body is light but not watery and the flavor from start to finish is uniformly roasted, floral, and bitter (more than usual for the style). It’s pleasant enough but I’m not scrambling for another one.

Bottle. Dark amber pour. Malty and fruity with some good hops mixed in. Floral taste to it really adds to the overall flavor. A good, drinkable beer by Summit.

While the smell is rather non-existent, this beer is EXCELLENT IN EVERY WAY in the taste and palate department, and it was my favorite new-to-me beer at the Joplin Ozarks Beerfest tonight. So many hoppy beers can lack a malt backbone, but the malt and hops here work together BEAUTIFULLY! The rich flavors linger and linger without feeling too thick or overpowering. Smooth, complex, and delicious. Well-done, Summit, well-done!
