COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Early German monks created “bock” beer as a hearty beverage that would help sustain them during their Lenten fasts. The first bock beers were dark, but soon came “blonder” styles such as maibock. Maibocks have a rich, malty, full flavor. And, since our first brewhouse was from Heimertingen in Bavaria, we’ve honored that heritage by giving the name to our first lager beer.“Bock,” by the way, is German for “male goat.” It doesn’t make sense to us either.

Bottle. Okay appearance and aroma but flavor is a little overwhelming for me. A bit of malt flaver but mostly I was sensing alcohol on the tongue. Not terrible, but not my favorite.

12 oz bottle. Pours a light gold color with hints of amber in the color. The head it a nice frothy white that leaves a textbook lacing all the way down the glass. Nose is mainly malty with a nod towards caramel malt. There is also a slight slight hint of alcohol in there as well. Flavor is a slightly floral, sweet malt body with a touch of hop bitterness just to balance it all out. Very smooth on the palate and you would never guess this bad boy to be 7.1% ABV until you finish the glass.

On tap at Von Trier’s in Milwaukee. Had a slight off-white head, amber color. Aroma was dominated by citrus and spicy coriander. Flavor was similar, with a bit of malt but mostly a sweet orange and spicy currant or coriander flavor. Some toffee notes. Palate was decent.

Draft. Poured a clear dark golden body with thin head. Aroma and taste are spices, perfunme and some sweet maltiness. Very smooth.

Definitely a middle of the road beer. But since it is local, cheap, and in season, I love it (well not that much) Bottled, cold, pours a nice dark golden hue. Not too much of a head here. Smooth on the palate, but not too much mouth feel. Slightly too sweet, and like other comments, the taste is heavy on the wheat and rye grains. For the money though, definitely a good choice.

Short 12oz twist-off bottle. Golden color. Aroma of rich malted German Lager. Flavor is rye, corn, wheat, and multigrain chips. Not the best of May.
