COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Early German monks created “bock” beer as a hearty beverage that would help sustain them during their Lenten fasts. The first bock beers were dark, but soon came “blonder” styles such as maibock. Maibocks have a rich, malty, full flavor. And, since our first brewhouse was from Heimertingen in Bavaria, we’ve honored that heritage by giving the name to our first lager beer.“Bock,” by the way, is German for “male goat.” It doesn’t make sense to us either.

Golden color pour, white somwhat lasting head. Good flavor with a malty touch and a touch of hops (Summit likes hops). Not a typical beer I would drink, but a good spring beer. Summit beers are always available around here and I can always get one when the selection isn’t great.

Medium bodied, decent carbonation. Smells good. Full hearty malt flavors, including bread and a bit of roast. Nice sweetness as a backbone, with hints of citrus fruits rounding it out. Surprisingly hoppy for a bock beer. Summit for the most part doesn’t let me down with their beers, they are usually solid, and this is no exception.

On tap. Poured a light to medium amber color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of bread, grass, grain and a little fruity. Tastes of bread, grass, and the same light fruitiness. Thinner body. Overall boring for my tastes.

Picked up a bottle from Cellar LexLarp. Pours a crisp, clear dark amber and a small off white head. Good lacing. Aroma of a good balance of hops and barley malt. Flavor is dry and more malt than hops. Finish a dry and some grass. Still an okay maibock.

I liked this brewer’s porter and Extra PA but strongly disliked this beer in every respect. Grainy corn ceral and yeasty stale bread. Too sweet, thin, bland. Particularly bad finish/aftertaste.

On tap at Sgt Prestons. Hoppy nose and and a balanced hobbyh body. Very good session beer for unwinding after a grueling negotiations class.

On tap at the Muddy Pig. Dirty blonde color. General qualities are metal, grass, and pungent onion sweat. Rather sour. Corn syrup. Tin-can fruit sweetness. Unpleasant.
