COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Early German monks created “bock” beer as a hearty beverage that would help sustain them during their Lenten fasts. The first bock beers were dark, but soon came “blonder” styles such as maibock. Maibocks have a rich, malty, full flavor. And, since our first brewhouse was from Heimertingen in Bavaria, we’ve honored that heritage by giving the name to our first lager beer.“Bock,” by the way, is German for “male goat.” It doesn’t make sense to us either.

At Beckett’s Hmm, I’ll need to try this again. It didn’t quite work for me. Not a bad beer just didn’t stand out. Serving: Tap

Pours a nice amber color with not much head. Not a strong scent, has a semi metallic.

Bottle. Pours clear amber gold with a soapy white head that fades. Aroma comes off sweet spice malt with earthy grass and grain. Taste is more grass and grain, but has a little lemon and bread notes. Palate is thin and slick with a dry finish.

Pours a golden orange color. Medium head. My first taste of this beer was actually straight from the bottle and it was lackluster. For my second try I poured it into my pint glass and that helped though it didn’t make it much better. Not a bad beer by any means just nothing special. It felt like it had potential with flavors of bread, grain, citrus and spice but the flavors never got all the way there and fell a little short.

Bottle. A - Clear, dark gold color with an average sized, bubbly, foamy, light, fizzy, white head. Disappears fairly fast leaving no real lace. S - Very malt driven with a grainy and slightly bready aroma. Touches of citrus and lemon, but only a slight fruitiness. Nothing really jumping out right here. T - Similar to the nose. A lot of graininess with some bready malt flavors. Some citrus lemony flavor mid sip. A little touch of herbal and grassy hop flavor, but it isn’t very strong. A faint yeasty fruit background. Musty grain is just too strong. M - Medium to light body with average carbonation. A little light feel. D - It was easy to drink, but it didn’t really make me want to drink more. Musty grain flavor was just too much. Alcohol peeked out a little bit, but not much. Notes: Average beer that didn’t really pop. It was decent but there was just too much musty grain flavor. Overall just nothing exciting that would make me want to get it again.

Pours pale gold with a 3 finger, fluffy, light beige head. Aroma is crusty bread, toast, floral hops, grain and a touch of mineral water. Flavor is toast, stale grain, old hay, floral and grassy hops. Grain husks, old dried grass and dusty hay to the finish. Palate is light to medium bodied with a slightly oily entry and off dry, but still slightly oily finish. Nothing terribly wrong with this brew, but the stale grain notes bring it down a bit.

Rather bland and disappointing. Grainy nose, flowery. Bread dough taste, buttery. Color is standard gold, clear, standard lacing.

Easy drinking Maibock, not really hoppy, nowhere near the quality of it’s German brethren.
