COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Early German monks created “bock” beer as a hearty beverage that would help sustain them during their Lenten fasts. The first bock beers were dark, but soon came “blonder” styles such as maibock. Maibocks have a rich, malty, full flavor. And, since our first brewhouse was from Heimertingen in Bavaria, we’ve honored that heritage by giving the name to our first lager beer.“Bock,” by the way, is German for “male goat.” It doesn’t make sense to us either.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a large creamy white head that lasts awhile that leaves behind good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a skunky malt with citrus and grass. Thin mouthfeel with a yeasty malt taste and light hop flavor. A decent heller bock from Summit.

Thanks to MBABJJ for this beer. Pours clear gold with a fizzy white head. Nose is lager, grass, sweetness, and some light malt. Flavor is very similar with lingering lagery sweetness. Not wonderful, not terrible. Light bodied and overall anh.

Bottle. Pous a nice, even amber with a healthy head and lively carbonation. Nose is straw, hay, and watered-down flowers. Flavor is grassy, hay-like hops with a sour malt finish. Nothing spectacular on the tongue; the beer lies there with nothing to do. Not terrible, but not worth repeating.

Bottle. Poured an amber color with a fairly small off whitish head. Aroma of sweet malt, bread, yeast and lemon. Flavor was drier and bit more earthy than expected. A bit of alcohol in the finish. Flavor was yeasty and malty, with a bit of hops in the finish. Better than expected, but nothing great.

Sampled at the Summit tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 5/14/09. Cloudy copper/amber pour with a thin off-white head. Malty aroma that is a bit skunky and some yeast in the back. Tart flavor up front with caramel malt, nuts and yeast.

Pale golden beer. The aroma is kind of odd. A bit of lightly rancid maltiness along with some diacetyl and a light lemony character. A bit briny and a bit sticky. Fairly simple/syrupy sweetness that just doesn’t really do it for me.
