COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Early German monks created “bock” beer as a hearty beverage that would help sustain them during their Lenten fasts. The first bock beers were dark, but soon came “blonder” styles such as maibock. Maibocks have a rich, malty, full flavor. And, since our first brewhouse was from Heimertingen in Bavaria, we’ve honored that heritage by giving the name to our first lager beer.“Bock,” by the way, is German for “male goat.” It doesn’t make sense to us either.

On draught at a Mineapolis-St Paul airport bar. Poured a slightly hazy gold, thin lacy head. Nose started malty, with hints of pine, then as the chill eased off the malt got fruitier and some caramel emerged. The palate was initially malty with hints of nut, herbal hops, a bit of caramel, and plenty of alcohol, with a good bitter-dry finish. Over time, the malt came to the fore and softened the dryness. A nice full-bodied and not too gassy bock.

(12oz bottle, courtesy of blutt59) Pours a clear yellow body with a small white head. Aroma of nuts, toasted grain, and honeycomb. Flavor of hops (grassy), nuts, and caramel malt.

Bottle: Light orange with perfect clarity and a white film of head. Toasted aroma- some light husk and bready notes- fairly dry with a light vegetal character. Light body- a bit lacking in texture. Some crystal malt in the flavor, meshing with a doughy character and a touch of diacetyl. Toasted bread suggestions. Not bad, just a tad buttery.

Very horsey though not farmhousey aroma, sweaty and dank and wet. Light, flat tasting (decent carbonation), not particularly exciting though a relatively accurate bock.

Bottle and on tap. Pours a light copper and yellow. Smells slightly boozy with a nice hop aroma following. Malty taste followed by hops. Mouth feel is very nice. One of my favorite beers.

12 oz bottle. Pours a very light copper- medium gold- and a thin white head- some lace. Aroma is smooht- bready malts, ligth toasty sweeetness, nice fresh flowery hops- similar to sunshine pils but more subdued- perhaps a wierd style of hallertauer- a touch grassy, sligth acetaldehyde, and a faint ropey leathery shoelace component. Good bready malt flavor, earth, leather, good sweetness, ligthly toasted bread, green fresh floral hops, and a tangy herbal bitterness in the end. Damn. this is really good- side by side with the Ramstein, Ramstein wins, but not by too much. Good stuff here.

12 oz bottle that was part of a Spring sampler that a friend of mine brought to a poker night. Pour is copper golden with a smallish white head that faded fast. Aroma of sweet honey and light lime citrus. Fair amount of caramel maltiness behind that. Taste is the nose, in nice balance. Palate is fairly flat, straw dryness, medium-thin, drinkable. Overall a decent enough beer.
