COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Early German monks created “bock” beer as a hearty beverage that would help sustain them during their Lenten fasts. The first bock beers were dark, but soon came “blonder” styles such as maibock. Maibocks have a rich, malty, full flavor. And, since our first brewhouse was from Heimertingen in Bavaria, we’ve honored that heritage by giving the name to our first lager beer.“Bock,” by the way, is German for “male goat.” It doesn’t make sense to us either.

12 oz. bottle poured into shaker- poured transparent tan with brown tints, very low carbonation, 3 mm bubbly white head formed and decided to play cards with me. Aroma of hops, malt, and roasted wheat. Hits the mouth with enjoyable medium body, malt is there and is extremely pleasant, a bit of caramel note in the middle, finish is a good and lingers. Impressed- one for the sessioner class.

Copper color with a thin but clingy off white head. Skunky aroma with a hint of caramel. Rich malty body with hints of toffee and caramel and a slightly dry finish.

Bottle. Very similar to the pale but with a little more toasted character as well as more malt. I liked the drinkability (If I’m allowed to say that) of this beer. Smooth and pretty well blended. medium hop character leaves a crisp and dry finish.

GAManiac (1852) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAR 27, 2009
Bottle shared by a generous BA at the Brick Store. Pours a light, clear golden amber with a big white head that dissipates very quickly and leaves very little lacing. The aroma is mostly just toasted grains on top of a light bready malt base. The taste isn’t any more exciting than the aroma as the toasted character of both the grains and malts dominate throughout. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and very crisp with a dry, bready finish. This is a decent maibock but nothing that really stands vs. others I’ve had. Drinkable but fairly forgettable.

Clear orange pour. Hops lightly color the aroma. Taste is buttery and of faint hops. Bittering finish.

Tame pour, crystal clear golden beer with a 1 inch white head. Heavy grain aroma. Full barley malt flavor with a sweet, dark, sugary finish. Palate is slightly metallic. Pearl-like bubbling. Skinny lacing. Accomplishes its definiate purpose.

The aroma smells like cooked corn and rotten eggs with citrus and honey. The appearance is deep gold with a nice head. The flavor has none of the rotten eggs but does have some corn and honey to go along with a generous amount of malt and hops. The palate is thin but right for the style. Overall I have to say it’s one stinky beer that tastes alright.
