COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We’re proud to announce the new Summit Sága IPA, a decidedly different hop-forward brew due out in early May 2012. The beer has pronounced hop flavors and aromas of kiwi, passionfruit, apricot and gooseberry. Clean, assertive bitterness with balancing Pale malt characteristics. We hop it with the rare New Zealand Rakau hop along with Citra, Centennial and Amarillo. Named after the Norse Goddess of Poetry, who was the God Odin’s drinking companion... also, it was quite a saga to pick a name!

12/16/2013: Summit Sága IPA... I generally am NOT a fan of Summit beers and have yet to find one that I liked, so I just stopped trying them altogether. However, I was convinced that I needed to try this one, so I did, albeit VERY reluctantly. To my surprise, this one is pretty damn good! I really like the balance and blend of the lightly honey malts and soft floral-citrus-Noble hops in the flavor. The bitterness level is actually fairly high, but it is softeness by the honeycomb and fleshy fruit flavors. This is a tricky beer to properly describe, but I’m quite pleased with it and look forward to trying it on tap if it pops up somewhere. 12 fl. oz. bottle from Party Town in Florence, KY.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark gold body with a one finger fizzy white head that left a little lacing. The nose is bright and fruity with some tropical and citrus hop notes. The malt on the nose is pretty light, just some bready and dry crockery malt. The flavor is super fruity from the hops, lots of tropical fruit notes. There’s still a pretty noticeable bitterness to this though, which is a little unique to these tropical fruit-heavy beers. Light fairly dry malt base that lets the hops do their thing. Light to medium bodied with a slight clinginess, moderate fizzy carbonation. Pretty good IPA, among the better Summit beers I’ve had.

12oz bottle thanks to Jake65. Pours a clear orange amber with some sudsy white head. Nose is balanced, malt, metal, soap, lemon, orange, apricot. Flavor is balanced as well, malty, honey, orange, pine, soap. Medium bodied. A well balanced, albeit simple, IPA. Very drinkable and the kind of beer you would order twice if it was your local.

Pours a lightly hazy golden amber with a creamy white lacing head. Aroma of pine, grapefruit, hints of toffee and caramel. Flavor of candied oranges, some pine and caramel.

Good IPA, but nothing outstanding. It had a good taste upfront, but I found the body a little light, with little taste on the finish and minimal bitterness. Overall though, a good IPA that delivers that classic IPA taste.

Clear golden color, frothy white head. Initial aroma of grapefruit and citrus is quickly overwhelmed by hay, malt, and floral notes. A little bittersweet, then resin bitterness. Average carbonation, smooth, though a bit too oily. Lingering hoppy finish.

Bottle: Pours a mountain of thick, creamy beige head atop a pale copper body. Spotty lacing. Aroma is bright, piney and fruity. Lively hops flavor; lightly herbal and floral. Some resin. Low level of bitterness. Good intense flavors, but not harsh. Refreshing.
