We’re proud to announce the new Summit Sága IPA, a decidedly different hop-forward brew due out in early May 2012. The beer has pronounced hop flavors and aromas of kiwi, passionfruit, apricot and gooseberry. Clean, assertive bitterness with balancing Pale malt characteristics. We hop it with the rare New Zealand Rakau hop along with Citra, Centennial and Amarillo. Named after the Norse Goddess of Poetry, who was the God Odin’s drinking companion... also, it was quite a saga to pick a name!

Cloudy orange-yellow color with a white soapy head. Aroma of pine, berries, and hops. Aggressive hop bite with passionfruit, berry, and pine flavor. Very well done.

Fresh bottle from Capone’s. A bold minty spicy peppery IPA that stands out as the aftertaste is still on my palate some time after consumption. Deep yellow with good retained head. Middling mouthfeel. Good drinkability. Invigorating aroma.

On tap, at various taverns and 12 oz bottle poured into pint glass. This one is a winner. The folks at Summit have outdone themselves. Very nice slightly pale amber, with crisp aromatic head. Very hoppy like most IPAs but a little more citrusy, flowery character, allowing more of the malt body through. It just has an overall predominant freshness to it. It’s hoppy without getting bogged down like some IPAs do. This really hits all the right notes for me. Summit EPA will always be their standard bearer, and rightfully so. It’s still my goto beer in on many nights out. But Saga may well be my new favorite Summit.

Didn't realize I didn't rate this. Had it a while back but in short, it's a more hop forward summit extra pale ale. Still has the graininess of the malt but a nice clean grapefruit, pine hop presence. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours a clear orangish gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of grassy hops with a bit of pine and grapefruit backed by some earthy grains. Flavor has grassy hops throughout with earthy grains and just a touch grapefruit.

Clear gold pour with a lasting white head. Nice lacing. Aroma is tropical fruits, cracker, and grass. Taste tropical fruits initially, followed by a subtle malt sweetness, and finishes with pine and bitterness. Very clean and crisp. Soft palate. Very nice beer.

Hop forward nose and flavor really punch the palate. Notes of citrus, pine and hop resin that finish clean. Very solid brew especially for the cost (at least in MN).

12oz bottle from ABC on Betton. Yellow-gold pour with a medium bright white head and tight spotty lacing. Aroma is floral, pine and biscuits. Tastes are light tart up front - then caramel malt, floral, grapefruit. Clean and crisp.

4/10/13. 12oz bottle. Hazy orange pour with a creamy, pillowy off-white but bright head that fades to a film but coats the glass with lacing. Rich, ripe fruitiness in the aroma - light pit fruits, citrus, berries, tropical, and more - with a touch of dank hoppiness and pale and caramel malts. Lighter flavor than the aroma led on perhaps, but still plenty of mixed fruitiness with a touch of malt. Lingering bitterness and definite dryness. Not bad.

12oz bottle from Spirits Berkley. Poured a good looking burnt orange body with an average sized creamy bright white head. Aroma is rather malty with notes of old citrus fruits and orange marmalade topped toast. Average body with a slight touch of bitterness on the end with lighter to average carbonation. Flavor is the same as the aroma with more of older citrus fruits coming through with toast and grains. Perhaps this bottle was old because I’m not seeing this as 3.6 or higher beer which it’s average is.
