We’re proud to announce the new Summit Sága IPA, a decidedly different hop-forward brew due out in early May 2012. The beer has pronounced hop flavors and aromas of kiwi, passionfruit, apricot and gooseberry. Clean, assertive bitterness with balancing Pale malt characteristics. We hop it with the rare New Zealand Rakau hop along with Citra, Centennial and Amarillo. Named after the Norse Goddess of Poetry, who was the God Odin’s drinking companion... also, it was quite a saga to pick a name!

12 oz. bottle served in a New Belgium globe . Enjoy by 2/05/2013. Thanks Jeff(supercolter) for the extra. A: Pours a clear amber color with a frothy white head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thick ring and thin film. Sticky sheets of lace are left down the glass. S: Grassy with a light citrus backing. A sweet pale malt backing with a little lemon zest. T: The hops are up front with a light bitterness and some dried grass, but it fades quickly to a mineral/hard water like quality in the middle. The malty sweetness creeps back up on the back end, but the mineral qualities kind of the malt body. It’s saved every slow slightly by lingering bitterness. M: Light bodied with a medium carbonation level. Bitterness with a slight mineral bite on the finish. O: Decent enough. We’re coming up on a month from the enjoy by date so not sure if that played any factors, but overall it was pretty average for me. Serving type: bottle

Bottle. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex citrus hop aroma. Medium body with a slick texture with soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy bitter flavor with a moderate to heavy bitter finish of medium duration. Very good brew.

On tap. Phenomenal local IPA that is a great entry to the Minnesota style of IPA with the likes of Surly, Indeed and Steel Toe

A solid IPA. Nice piney aroma, flavour is a bit bitter, though lacks some lingering bitterness I would have liked. Not bad.

Pours a deep golden color with a near fluffy white head which hangs around for a bit. Aroma is floral hops. Taste is grapefruit with slight bitterness. Solid IPA, nothing over the top, very well balanced.

Beer poured from a 12 oz bottle into my 16oz Summit Saga pint glass. Beer pours a nice slightly less than copper color, with an agressive pour you can expect a nice, robust head. As you drink this beer, it leaves an excellent lacing on the glass. Right out of the fridge the nose is a little mild, but as it warms the citrus and tropical smells from the citra and amarillo hops really come forward. Behind these smells there is almost a spicy note that sort of rolls into an earthy note. As you drink this beer there is a nice balanced maltiness to couter act the initial hop pop. As it moves across the palate it evolves into a nice bitter earthy herbal taste. While there is a bitterness to this beer from the hops, it is very nice and balanced. It is not overpowering. This is a nice balanced midwest IPA.

Weak appearance but great aroma of hops and malt. Flavor is definitely nothing special in terms of IPAs, but it is still a good beer. not super bitter, very refreshing, kind of plain but still good, normal IPA flavors. I’d buy it again, considering i am a minnesotan for a good portion of the year

Perhaps my favorite Summit offering to date. Floral and piney notes, clear and fresh. Enough hoppiness for the hopheads without the stick in the eye. Not bitter...just a bit of a bite.
