We’re proud to announce the new Summit Sága IPA, a decidedly different hop-forward brew due out in early May 2012. The beer has pronounced hop flavors and aromas of kiwi, passionfruit, apricot and gooseberry. Clean, assertive bitterness with balancing Pale malt characteristics. We hop it with the rare New Zealand Rakau hop along with Citra, Centennial and Amarillo. Named after the Norse Goddess of Poetry, who was the God Odin’s drinking companion... also, it was quite a saga to pick a name!

On tap. Pours a clear gold with a white head and lots of lacing. It has an aroma of pine, resin, and some grass. The flavor is piney hops up front with a great bitter finish over a medium body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Solid India Pale Ale. It’s not my favorite style... but this one seems to be a solid representative.

Bottle: Burnt golden color; cloudy & obscure with not much head at all. Aroma of honey, dank hops, earth, citrus peel, some toasty & breaded malts. Not a huge amount going on, but it smells OK. Taste grazes up front with a hint of earthy bitterness. Hop leaves, grapefruit peels, pithy citrus, light pine, a touch of small dankness, toasted crackers, & bread lingering in the aftertaste. Highly carbonated, surprising to see after the lack of head. Decent IPA, nothing too stand-out, but it’s alright.

Lightly hazy yellow with some white foam. Grain and fruit aroma. Taste is floral and pine, a little spice. Lightly bitter.

12 oz. Pour is clear amber with a lasting film of cream. Mild nose is melon, orange, pineapple, toasted grain and a touch of resin. Flavors of melon, resin, caramel, pineapple, citrus and a touch of minty green herb. Near-medium body is mostly smooth with a medium carbonation and has a nice balance.

One of my favorites from Summit. Has a lovely flowery and citrusy hop filled smell and golden-orange color. The taste is a little bit too bitter to be rated exceptional, but overall this is a very drinkable beer. Plus it’s usually pretty cheap, which makes it even better.

Really fresh and citrusy. Hoppy but super crisp and refreshing. Big lemon taste. Really nice summertime IPA.

Smooth, malty. More malty than I normally like but citrus helps with the maltyness. Overall great beer!!

Light gold color. Nice hop nose. Medium body that gives way to a piercing hop bitter quickly. Tight mouthfeel. Goes nice with pub grub but bold enough to stand on its own.

Pours a hazy golden to orange with a tall, rocky eggshell head that hangs out a little while and leaves some intricate foamy lace rings. Nose involves mild pine and grapefruit rind along with some toasted malt and light caramel. Fair sweet, quite bitter. Medium bodied, somewhat oily, softer carb, a bit grainy, with a lengthy piney bitter and dry finish. Decent brew, easier drinking.
