We’re proud to announce the new Summit Sága IPA, a decidedly different hop-forward brew due out in early May 2012. The beer has pronounced hop flavors and aromas of kiwi, passionfruit, apricot and gooseberry. Clean, assertive bitterness with balancing Pale malt characteristics. We hop it with the rare New Zealand Rakau hop along with Citra, Centennial and Amarillo. Named after the Norse Goddess of Poetry, who was the God Odin’s drinking companion... also, it was quite a saga to pick a name!

Bottle. Floral citrus hops, light caramel malt aroma. Hazy honey gold with a large off-white head. Grapefruit peel, pine hops, and biscuity malt flavor. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation. I really enjoyed the lighter body which made this a very easy drinking beer.

Very nice ipa. drinkable and approachable. not huge flavor, but clean. I would say that it is a good introductory ipa.

12oz bottle, best by 10/22/12, from Party Source. Mildly hazy yellow-orange color. Good biger foamy off-white head. Citrusy hop nose. Some loose lace. Light, softer smoother carbonation. Malty bitter sweet taste. Caramel hops. Some spicy soapy hops. Light floral. As it is, this is a pretty unappealing IPA. Deserves a re-rate from a fresher example.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 12/19/12

Aroma: The nose is full of tropical fruity hops, with some pine tree, a little spice, and some sap
Appearance: It pours a hazy orange color with a small white head and some spotty lace-work
Flavor: It is a little sweet, with a good amount of citra hop bitterness, and more spice then the nose
Palate: It has a medium body, average carbonation, a pretty good mouthfeel, and a dry, clean finish
Overall Impression: This was a pretty darn good one. It’s basically a well-made, well-hopped IPA with a little bit of a spice twist to it. This is a quality entry into the world of IPAs. I’d drink it again for sure.

The aroma is very hoppy with floral, pine, citrus, and grass. The malts are there and provide some balance. The appearance is hazy deep gold with an orange hue. The head is average. The taste is like the aroma and bitter. The palate is smooth. Overall a good beer but seems pretty average with so many ipa’s out these days.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a wheat yellow color with a bubbly head. Smell is a nice blend of strong hops, citrus grapefruit, and pine. Taste is initially very tart and bitter. The bitterness then lightens up with the addition of malt flavors. This is followed by a wave of citrus, after which there is a recapitulation to the hoppy bitterness in the finish. Flavor is very fresh. True to the style and a refreshing beer.

Draft. Poured a clear medium orange color. The head was thick and off white with good retention and lacing. Smelled of orange, grapefruit, and subdued graham cracker. Light to medium bodied and dry with moderate bitterness. Sweaty hop, grapefruit, citrus, and pale malt flavors.

Amber and slightly hazy. Piney Hops, Grapefruit, Pineapple, and Yeasts with an overlying oak flavor. Tastes similar to Sam Adam Griffin’s Bow except with oak. Mildly carbonated and light bodied makes for easy drinking. A solid IPA from Summit overall, it’s nice to see them changing up their styles every once in a while.

Nice malty aroma with some citrus. the flavor has a nice bit of bitterness balanced with a malt base. Nice and dry, quite refreshing.
