COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We’re proud to announce the new Summit Sága IPA, a decidedly different hop-forward brew due out in early May 2012. The beer has pronounced hop flavors and aromas of kiwi, passionfruit, apricot and gooseberry. Clean, assertive bitterness with balancing Pale malt characteristics. We hop it with the rare New Zealand Rakau hop along with Citra, Centennial and Amarillo. Named after the Norse Goddess of Poetry, who was the God Odin’s drinking companion... also, it was quite a saga to pick a name!

Pours a slightly cloudy amber color. Nice head, and some insane lacing! Head isn’t long lived.

Aroma is very hoppy. Description calls for some miscellaneous tropical fruits, and I detect little of that. There’s a weed around here, it’s called bitterweed, and it smells just like that. Interesting...

Taste is bitter. Like you would expect from an IPA. In fact this might even be a little more bitter than your average IPA. It’s so hop heavy that the malts are pretty much undetectable.

Mouthfeel is crisp. Finishes clean, but quite bitter. Crisp but smooth Very dry.. Maybe a little citrus.

Overall, it’s quite tasty. One of the better IPA’s I’ve had. If you like IPAs, try it. I was expecting an average IPA, but this was surprising.

Pours coppery-gold with a nice, lasting head. Aroma is hops, citrus, and hints of the noted kiwi and apricot; scent gets much more pronounced and bouncy as the beer warms. Taste is clean upfront citrus with nice resiny mouthfeel, fading to a balanced bitter. Good beer.

Bottle pour into goblet. Aroma isn’t very strong, but has a distinct resin forward quality, with grapefruit and floral notes. Appearance is clear amber with decent (1/2") white foam head that leaves nice lacing. Taste is lightly sweet, moderately butter, and lightly sour, I would say it’s very pleasant but not powerful. Palate has a medium body, creamy texture, and a slightly bitter finish. This is a really good IPA on the lighter side, and the price locally is hard to beat.

Yellowish orange. Thick, frothy head. Bready malts, lemony aromas, some tangy citrus akin to grapefruit or tangerine. A really nice, really drinkable IPA.

Can, at Eaux Claires music festival in Wisconsin. Had a few of these at the festival, definitely the best thing available. Wish I could have tried it properly in a glass, but still enjoyed it - nice tropical fruit notes with medium bitterness, not the most flavourful IPA but tasty and pretty well balanced. Would like to try it again sometime.

On tap. Very aromatic with citrus fruits and slight pine. Very clear amber, copper, and slight orange hue with healthy white head lacing nicely. Subtle caramel sweetness with orange marmalade and pineapple. Medium carbonation and soft bitterness. This is a really nice aggressive IPA that I can drink a lot of.
