We’re proud to announce the new Summit Sága IPA, a decidedly different hop-forward brew due out in early May 2012. The beer has pronounced hop flavors and aromas of kiwi, passionfruit, apricot and gooseberry. Clean, assertive bitterness with balancing Pale malt characteristics. We hop it with the rare New Zealand Rakau hop along with Citra, Centennial and Amarillo. Named after the Norse Goddess of Poetry, who was the God Odin’s drinking companion... also, it was quite a saga to pick a name!

Herbal toasty aroma, maybe a little bit piney and zesty. Looks like apple juice with nice head of small-bubbles. Taste is just plain bitter and doesn’t let any other flavors through even if you let it warm up a little. Overall a very one-dimensional IPA. The bitterness should complement the other characteristics of beer, not smother them.

UPDATED: OCT 5, 2012 On tap at Tavern on France Pours a nice, yellowish color. Does not pour dark as Iexpected but has a very good, hoppy aroma. Not superbly well-balanced but its a true IPA. Very good out of the tap with nice hoppy notes. Also, is very tasty from a bottle.

This is a tasty one w/ a great nose. It’s orange and clear w/ a small but tenacious head and lots of lace. The commercial deScription seems to want to focus on New Zealand hops but this is a pretty straight-forward American hopped IPA w/ loads of pine, earth and citrus in the nose--very potent. Flavor is also full w/ a bit of sticky sweetness which balances the resiny hop bitterness. This is about six and half percent alcohol and drinks much bigger than it is. A very nice excursion for those into the hoppy.

On tap at Park Tavern. Pours clear golden with white head. Aromas of grapefruit, tropical fruit, little pine, and some biscuity malts. Flavors of bitter hops, grapefruit, tropical fruit, and some bready malts. Nice citrusy IPA. Solid.

Perfect IPA a great addition to the Summit year round lineup. Fruity but not too fruity and plenty of hops. Great in the bottle and on tap.

I really like this one! It is much better on tap compared to a bottle...so the hop aroma has a limited shelf life (that's okay!). I have had this at a concert at the Minnesota Zoo and was impressed then too. Nice American hop aroma with plenty of malt flavor without the heavy body of many others in this category. Same yeast as their EPA which maintains the Summit profile that is so tried and true. I think this one is probably underrated on RateBeer.com. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: NOV 4, 2013 Gold pour with average-sized head and lacing. Nice aroma of pine, citrus, and bready caramel malt. Very well-balanced flavor of malt and hops - IBUs certainly hit, but they don’t overwhelm the malts. Outstanding aftertaste - good residual hop flavor. Medium-bodied. Nicely done.

Bottle- Pours a honey golden color with a good head that fades slowly to ample lacing. Aroma of citrus and pine with hint of herbs. Nice clean smell. Taste of grapefruit with a bit of pine. Has a mild sweetness and an easy bitterness with a dry finish. Fairly medium body, smooth with a nice balance. Good drinker that goes down easy. Worth checking out.
