COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We’re proud to announce the new Summit Sága IPA, a decidedly different hop-forward brew due out in early May 2012. The beer has pronounced hop flavors and aromas of kiwi, passionfruit, apricot and gooseberry. Clean, assertive bitterness with balancing Pale malt characteristics. We hop it with the rare New Zealand Rakau hop along with Citra, Centennial and Amarillo. Named after the Norse Goddess of Poetry, who was the God Odin’s drinking companion... also, it was quite a saga to pick a name!

Bottle, courtesy of CanIHave4Beers. Cheers, Andy and Dennetta! Pours a beauty, pale golden-orange, hazy with a creamy whit head atop. Nose shows spicy Cascade, citrus, grapefruit, and some grain. Taste adds pleasant bitterness. Great mouthfeel.

Good head, great lacing, mostly diminishing, clear, light golden amber, hoppy, bitter finish.

Aroma is a touch faint with citrus hop aromas, especially grapefruit. Very classic for a IPA. Pours an awesome pale colour with plenty of carbonation...this beer looks perfect to me. Taste is crisp, carbonated and fruity. Flavours of apricot, kiwi and grapefruit arrive quickly and taste incredible. A bitterness follows the fruitiness and lingers into a very crisp and fresh aftertaste. Palate is light, refreshing and bubbly. Love this beer, right up my alley. This is my ideal styled IPA (light, fruity, bitter after taste and crisp). Big fan.

Bottle. A deep bronze amber colored brew with a thin off white head. Grapefruit and almonds in the nose. There was also some hint of wood. The taste was large grapefruit with lots of dry wood. There was also some slightly sweet almonds. A little hint of burnt bread crust in the finish. This is a solid IPA.

One of the best beers Summit has ever made. In my view they don’t take enough chances; they’re too corporate. But this beer is great. And whilst it’s still not as hoppy as the IPAs that I love, it’s got a nice creamy head, which is rare for Summit.

10 oz mug draft pour at Next Door Pizza in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. The pour is a lightly hazed golden with not much of a white head. The aroma is hop sweet citrus, some hay, and a light amount of cereal malt. The taste is light, crisp citrus hops, the grass and a light resin bitterness. Malt is present, but very much underneath the crisp hops. The palate is light bodied, soft carbonation, crisp and refreshing. Nice easy drinking refreshing beer.

Herbal toasty aroma, maybe a little bit piney and zesty. Looks like apple juice with nice head of small-bubbles. Taste is just plain bitter and doesn’t let any other flavors through even if you let it warm up a little. Overall a very one-dimensional IPA. The bitterness should complement the other characteristics of beer, not smother them.

UPDATED: OCT 5, 2012 On tap at Tavern on France Pours a nice, yellowish color. Does not pour dark as Iexpected but has a very good, hoppy aroma. Not superbly well-balanced but its a true IPA. Very good out of the tap with nice hoppy notes. Also, is very tasty from a bottle.

This is a tasty one w/ a great nose. It’s orange and clear w/ a small but tenacious head and lots of lace. The commercial description seems to want to focus on New Zealand hops but this is a pretty straight-forward American hopped IPA w/ loads of pine, earth and citrus in the nose--very potent. Flavor is also full w/ a bit of sticky sweetness which balances the resiny hop bitterness. This is about six and half percent alcohol and drinks much bigger than it is. A very nice excursion for those into the hoppy.

On tap at Park Tavern. Pours clear golden with white head. Aromas of grapefruit, tropical fruit, little pine, and some biscuity malts. Flavors of bitter hops, grapefruit, tropical fruit, and some bready malts. Nice citrusy IPA. Solid.
