We’re proud to announce the new Summit Sága IPA, a decidedly different hop-forward brew due out in early May 2012. The beer has pronounced hop flavors and aromas of kiwi, passionfruit, apricot and gooseberry. Clean, assertive bitterness with balancing Pale malt characteristics. We hop it with the rare New Zealand Rakau hop along with Citra, Centennial and Amarillo. Named after the Norse Goddess of Poetry, who was the God Odin’s drinking companion... also, it was quite a saga to pick a name!

Slight slight sour hops. Lighter water finish. A little spice burn. Better when colder.

Somewhat hazy, yellow pour with a white head. Good aroma. Apricot, strawberry, citrus, and florals. Light body with lively carbonation. Its amazing that something can smell this sweet, yet taste this bitter. Nice complexity and a dry finish.

Draft at World of Beer Naperville. Pours an attractive orangey gold with a fluffy offwhite head. The nose is catpee, deep passionfruit and guava, peaches and spice. Clean yeast overall. On tasting, medium-high bitterness and dry. Not much in the way of sweetness, which is nice. Catty and refreshing, lots of juicy hops that don’t become cloying. Pretty damn fine IPA overall though perhaps a bit busy in terms of hopping.

Bottle via Mark, thanks! Pours a mostly clear golden orange with slight off white head. Aroma is of peach skin, slight pineapple and a lightly pronounced malt aroma. Taste is aggressive bitter hop at the front with some slight fruit notes such as cantaloupe in the middle but then it just fades away with more light bitterness and a very dry mouth. Overall, not too bad and would compare this to SN Torpedo in some ways as being something I could drink a number of even though it doesn’t stand out as being outstanding.

Thanks again to Terminus for bringing this IPA my way. Pours crystal clear copper with a soapy off-white head. The aroma has green onions, dankness and tropical hops. The malt has lots of clean caramel balancing the hops nicely and it has a nice clean sweetness. It has a medium smooth velvety body at first, then some semi-soft carbonation roughens it up a bit. The flavor starts with toasted malt that’s dry and earthy along with hops that are earthy, piny and somewhat wintergreen-like. The finish has papery dryness (in a good way, not old beer), earthy hops, pine cones and tree bark. Really nice and pleasant surprise from Summit.

Had it after a Zombie Dust so keep that in mind, also a bit cold. It is very citrus rindy. Nice hop flavors.

Clear yellow with thicky foamy white head and very fine bubbles. Strong apricot, citrus, fruity aroma, a lot softer than what i’d imagine real vikings drank! Very sweet with slight bitter aftertaste. Foamy medium heavy body holds the sweetness for a while. Good, but the name is misleading.
