COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We’re proud to announce the new Summit Sága IPA, a decidedly different hop-forward brew due out in early May 2012. The beer has pronounced hop flavors and aromas of kiwi, passionfruit, apricot and gooseberry. Clean, assertive bitterness with balancing Pale malt characteristics. We hop it with the rare New Zealand Rakau hop along with Citra, Centennial and Amarillo. Named after the Norse Goddess of Poetry, who was the God Odin’s drinking companion... also, it was quite a saga to pick a name!

To me, despite the ABV, this drank more like an APA. It looked okay, pale amber/yellow bodied with a modest foamy head with plenty of lacing. The aroma was all hops, citrusy with lemon and lemon zest. The flavor was more of the same and had the light addition of tropical fruit and pale malt. It finished dry and solidly bitter, this being the only bit that made it seem like an IPA.

12 ounce bottle thanks to Kyle. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. A light nose of lemons, some biscuit, a bit of marmalade. The flavor is medium bitterness, big oranges, toasted malts, almonds, Amarillo is pretty clear. Quite nice.

Bottle, enjoy by is smeared but looks like 5/11/14. Nose is very hoppy, very woody; there’s typical orange peel citrus with lighter floral notes and some resin, light paper. Only very mild tropical accents. Pours orange with a soapy white head. Taste is bitter and very dry, nice scratching resin on the bottom end, touch of sweetness in the middle with oily orange before drying right back out again for the nice papery finish. Very cleansing. Medium-full body, crisp and refreshing, has a pine base with more generic wood wafting up through the middle. Good, clean fun, but was expecting a little more.

A decent IPA, but would probably lose in a taste battle half the time. Has a vanilla/warmer malt hint that lingers.

Bottle at craft ale house. Pours clear gold with a small white head. The aroma has mango and apricot, floral notes, a bit of pine. The taste is medium bitter, a bit of passionfruit, not too dry.

Pours a hazy orange yellow. Smelled like hop pellets were floating in the beer. Incredibly fresh. Taste is noticeably malty. Much more than the aroma indicates. Southfield is smooth and thick with a thick foamy head. Finishes dry with notes of orange and other citrus. Impressive.

Had this tasty little number at the Cleveland Winter Beerfest last night 1-31-14. Very similar to Fathead’s Headhunter IPA. Hop forward and aggressive must try for any hop head!

Pint at buffalo wild wings. Nice tasting ipa. Reminds me more of a pale from a hop standpoint. I could see myself drinking several of these. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
