COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We’re proud to announce the new Summit Sága IPA, a decidedly different hop-forward brew due out in early May 2012. The beer has pronounced hop flavors and aromas of kiwi, passionfruit, apricot and gooseberry. Clean, assertive bitterness with balancing Pale malt characteristics. We hop it with the rare New Zealand Rakau hop along with Citra, Centennial and Amarillo. Named after the Norse Goddess of Poetry, who was the God Odin’s drinking companion... also, it was quite a saga to pick a name!

Pours a clear orange. Really clear. About half a finger of head. Smell is heavy on citrus, with a tinge of malt sweetness. The taste starts with bitterness, mellows into a sweet fruity hop and malt magic, and finishes with a lighter, dry bitterness in the back of your mouth. Centennial hops make an appearance, and an almost plum-like flavor is present. Is that Rakau? I’ve never had a beer with that hop before. Overall, I like this beer quite a bit. Much better than the standard Summit IPA offering.

Pours a nearly clear, golden orange with a half finger, off white head. Aroma has big notes of orange citrus, pine, resin, and is slightly floral. Yum! Taste is a pronounced bitter with a solid, bready/caramel malt backbone. Pine, resin, and orange citrus with a drawn out, resiny aftertaste. Medium body and carbonation. Resiny in the mouth with a very dry finish. Overall this is fricking great. Lots of orange, pine and resin balanced with a strong bitterness. Yum!

Hazy orange golden. Good sized frothy creamy white head. Sweet hoppy fruity aroma. Medium body. Good balance. Sweet. Fruity. Grassy. Moderate gassy grapefruit like bitterness. Semi oily. Too sweet for my pref right now maybe? It has alot going for it but doesn’t quite tip to excellent for me.

bottle - Pours copper with a one finger off-white head. It has a citrus hop aroma. The flavor is balanced as IPAs go with assertive hop bitterness and a sweet malt backing with a hint of caramel. Medium bodied. Pleasant enough lingering bitterness. To me it’s a fairly good IPA but not quite as good in its style as others have rated it.

bottle, although mine looks different than the picture. maybe I got a fake. I hope not. anyway. nose full of dank with some earthiness and moderate notes of citrus and pine. hazy orange pour with small head. initial taste is a touch sweet and fruity like a cantaloupe with some pineapple flavor too. bitterness kicks in quickly and kicks in a harsh astringency. I wish the sweetness and bitterness were both toned down to allow more of the hops to shine in the flavor. the drying finish from the bitterness is rough on the tongue. Half way through the glass I’m adjusted to it, but I think my tongue feels like someone grabbed it and ran it through a grinder and then stuck a hairy toupee on it.

Typical ipa hoppy aroma but more sweet and less BO. Yes, from a bottle the first taste impressions are IPA, fer sure. Rather dull but not fully processed flavors. Date code 3/16/14. Yes, typical tasty IPA, even tho I don’t get this style it is rather IPA-ish. Perhaps not as much as this site rates it in its style but OK, I guess. Goes down fairly easy when the second half is drank write from the bottle. Decently weak co2 but bare able. Still, it has this nasty on style finish as with most bitter ipa.

At the Big Texas Beer Fest on 4/5/2014. Draft pours orange thin small head. Aroma is muted hops, thin hops, not much there. Taste is dry cardboard hopiness, a little bitter and on the rough side.

A: Medium gold, hazy, and small white bubbly head. S: Some citrus/orange pine and strong presence of the malt. T: Citrus is up front, with some toasty caramel. M: Medium body, semi-sweet but not a lot. Nice feel. O: Pretty solid and easy drinking IPA.

Bottle. Clear yellow pour with a white head. Mild grapefruit hop aromas. Somewhat bland with mild grapefruit hop notes. A bit on the unbalanced side with a below average mouthfeel.

12 oz bottle from Hy-Vee Muscatine. Golden, pale and pretty clear with a sticky white head. Nice fresh aroma of tropical fruits, citrus hops, floral notes, herbs and light pale malts. Similar flavor, crisp, hoppy and lightly fruity with medium bitterness and a touch of malty sweetness. Medium body with a clean, smooth feel, easy to drink. Wow I am impressed.
