We’re proud to announce the new Summit Sága IPA, a decidedly different hop-forward brew due out in early May 2012. The beer has pronounced hop flavors and aromas of kiwi, passionfruit, apricot and gooseberry. Clean, assertive bitterness with balancing Pale malt characteristics. We hop it with the rare New Zealand Rakau hop along with Citra, Centennial and Amarillo. Named after the Norse Goddess of Poetry, who was the God Odin’s drinking companion... also, it was quite a saga to pick a name!

Slightly hazy honey color with 3/4" of stiff white head. Aroma is sweet and tropical with a mix of citrus and other fruits. Taste is the same, and the malt is clean, allowing the hop bitterness to punch through in the end. $2/12oz

Pours a cloudy golden color with white head. Citrus, spice, spruce, and some earth on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with some hop resin.

Appearance: Coppery gold under a pithy off-white head which slowly settles into a thick layer while lace crawls up the sides of my glass. Lovely.
Nose: Grapefruit and key lime front and center followed by freshly grated spice in the middle while dew-dropped grass skirts the edges. Sticky hop resins in the back. Bright.
Palate: Not quite as intense but well balanced with clean brisk flavors that keep me smiling from first quaff to last. Medium weight. Lots of grapefruit and key lime rind and pith in the back of each swallow – parching and thirst inducing. Green grass. Juicy white grapefruit and lemon drops in the middle. Sticky along the edges and on my lips – hop resins.
Final Thoughts: Balanced, clean, refreshing, and sessionable tribute to the Saga hop variety from Summit Brewing out of Minnesota. I’d happily drink another.

UPDATED: OCT 5, 2012 On tap at Tavern on France Pours a nice, yellowish color. Does not pour dark as Iexpected but has a very good, hoppy aroma. Not superbly well-balanced but its a true IPA. Very good out of the tap with nice hoppy notes. Also, is very tasty from a bottle.

Amber-gold colored, slightly hazy, with a moderate head when poured. The aroma shows grapefruit, mango, light caramel, and a metallic scent that distracts from an otherwise pleasant aroma. No metallic flavors; just a solid tasting IPA. The major thing going on here is a tropical fruit hop profile with a light but sturdy malty body. There’s a little sticky pine too. Dry and bitter in the finish but nothing extreme. It probably needs to be more aggressively hopped to get a higher rating than this but overall I found it to be a good IPA.

Clear golden amber white head. Citrus zest, light floral fruit, faint pine and caramel. Moderate pine and citrus flavor with trailing bitterness. Little malt coming through. Medium crisp palate. Crazy drinkable, but could be beefed up in the aroma quite a bit and flavor to a lesser extent. Definitely above average, but could be great.

Clear amber color. Average head and body. Flavor leans to fruity hops with limited bitterness.

Draft at Fermentation. Golden pur with a frothy white head. Nose is citrusy and pine like hops with some sweet malt backbone. Flavor is similar with some more tropical fruitiness and spice. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Not bad.
