We’re proud to announce the new Summit Sága IPA, a decidedly different hop-forward brew due out in early May 2012. The beer has pronounced hop flavors and aromas of kiwi, passionfruit, apricot and gooseberry. Clean, assertive bitterness with balancing Pale malt characteristics. We hop it with the rare New Zealand Rakau hop along with Citra, Centennial and Amarillo. Named after the Norse Goddess of Poetry, who was the God Odin’s drinking companion... also, it was quite a saga to pick a name!

The saga continues (wu tang?). Clear golden pour with a white head. Very clear golden. I got excited. Citrus fruit aroma, some graham cracker. Flavor isn’t nearly as hope forward as I like it, but the malt profile doesn’t get in the way. Mildly bitter finish, good carbonation.

Bottle- Pours a honey golden color with a good head that fades slowly to ample lacing. Aroma of citrus and pine with hint of herbs. Nice clean smell. Taste of grapefruit with a bit of pine. Has a mild sweetness and an easy bitterness with a dry finish. Fairly medium body, smooth with a nice balance. Good drinker that goes down easy. Worth checking out.

Pours a cloudy golden color with white head. Citrus, spice, spruce, and some earth on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with some hop resin.

12oz bottle pours a bright golden/orange with a large white head. Aroma of resinous hops, lots of tropical fruits and citrus. Taste has a nice well rounded hop bitterness with sweet fruits. A little light on the flavor altogether but still really nice, clean and refreshing.

Pale yellow pour. Very white, fluffy head that disappears. Aroma is lots of fresh hops, but just a touch of cardboard aroma. Flavor is citrus--lemon and grapefruit--and flowers. Fresh hop, mild bitterness in the finish.

Bottle from Trinity Spirits. Pours a clear copper orange color with a medium off-white head. Some risidual sudsy lacing along the side of the glass. Nice hoppy aroma with a definite fruit note present. Can’t honestly say I can detect the kiwi and apricot from the description, but it’s a nice medley nonetheless. Flavor is heavy towards the hoppy side but there is some trailing malt notes that help balance it out. Dry mouthfeel. Overall a tasty offering from Summit.

Pours a hazy orange yellow. Smelled like hop pellets were floating in the beer. Incredibly fresh. Taste is noticeably malty. Much more than the aroma indicates. Southfield is smooth and thick with a thick foamy head. Finishes dry with notes of orange and other citrus. Impressive.

[On-tap] Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma is big on grapefruit. Taste is grapefruit, blood orange, big malt finish. Slight snap peas show up after awhile. Decent mouthfeel, long finish. Overall, not bad. I liked the citrus character, but didn’t overly impress.

Bottle from Otto’s in Brown Deer. Pours yellowish orange - quite clear - with a well defined white head leaving some nice lacing. Aroma has pine and faint citrus. A bit of herbal presence. All somewhat subtle. Taste is of citrus, pine and some resin. Mostly bitter but in a subtle way, again. A nice flavor set with a faint touch of sweetness. Finishes mostly bitter and with some length, especially as the glass went down. A nice easy drinker without a lot of forcefulness. Probably the tastiest Summit I’ve ever had.
