COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We’re proud to announce the new Summit Sága IPA, a decidedly different hop-forward brew due out in early May 2012. The beer has pronounced hop flavors and aromas of kiwi, passionfruit, apricot and gooseberry. Clean, assertive bitterness with balancing Pale malt characteristics. We hop it with the rare New Zealand Rakau hop along with Citra, Centennial and Amarillo. Named after the Norse Goddess of Poetry, who was the God Odin’s drinking companion... also, it was quite a saga to pick a name!

Golden, clear, white head. Light aroma, but big American hop flavor, nice tropical notes. Mellow mouthfeel, chewy. Citric finish .

Draft at the International Tap House. Textbook American APA. Right down the middle visuals, golden and shiny, big poofy head. This is citrus all the way. Nice light and drinkable offering, but fully flavored. Love it. (#5232, 8/29/2013)

The beer pours a golden color with a white head. The aroma is full of resin notes as well as some biscuit malt and a hint of orange citrus. The flavor is very similar. I get some dry, resin notes and a hint of biscuit malt. The beer is very "sticky" and there is a medium amount of bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A very nice IPA.

To me, despite the ABV, this drank more like an APA. It looked okay, pale amber/yellow bodied with a modest foamy head with plenty of lacing. The aroma was all hops, citrusy with lemon and lemon zest. The flavor was more of the same and had the light addition of tropical fruit and pale malt. It finished dry and solidly bitter, this being the only bit that made it seem like an IPA.

Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits (Betton) - 12 oz bottle. Slightly sparkling medium golden pour, slightly thinnish with sticky white head that leaves bubbly lacing. Aroma has some light spruce notes, a bit of mango-like fruitiness. Flavor is refreshing with some light bittersweet citrus notes, some spearmint accents, and a touch of green tea. Mouthfeel is more thin than thick. Better than expected.

Bottle to half-pint glass (shared with the Mrs.; thanks DrSilverworm). Best by 01/26/14. Looks good; a mostly transparent orange with white head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells solid; hoppy with a big pale malt backbone. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. A solid IPA.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle at Heritage Liquors in Maplewood, MN. Pours a clear golden amber colored IPA with a decent sized, rocky off-white head with excellent retention and lacing. Aroma of pine, apricots, a hint of tangerine, golden grain malt, and a hint of tropical fruits. Taste is medium bodied, lot of citrusy and pine flavors, tangerines, some lime zest, grapefruit and multi-golden grain malt. Finish is mildy bitter that slowly disappears but does not linger like most other IPAs. Lots of hop profile flavors without the lingering bitterness is the best way to describe this outstanding hoppy ale.

Bottle. A deep bronze amber colored brew with a thin off white head. Grapefruit and almonds in the nose. There was also some hint of wood. The taste was large grapefruit with lots of dry wood. There was also some slightly sweet almonds. A little hint of burnt bread crust in the finish. This is a solid IPA.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of hops, grass, fruit, honeydew, and hints of tangerine and kiwi. Poured amber/gold in color with a medium-sized, creamy, dense, off-white head that lasted throughout. Clear. Sparkling. Excellent lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and medium bitter. Tastes of malt, hops, grass, and a hint of caramel. Medium body. Tingly, then lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Lightly sweet, medium bitter, hop, grass, malt finish is lightly dry.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark gold body with a one finger fizzy white head that left a little lacing. The nose is bright and fruity with some tropical and citrus hop notes. The malt on the nose is pretty light, just some bready and dry crockery malt. The flavor is super fruity from the hops, lots of tropical fruit notes. There’s still a pretty noticeable bitterness to this though, which is a little unique to these tropical fruit-heavy beers. Light fairly dry malt base that lets the hops do their thing. Light to medium bodied with a slight clinginess, moderate fizzy carbonation. Pretty good IPA, among the better Summit beers I’ve had.
