COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We’re proud to announce the new Summit Sága IPA, a decidedly different hop-forward brew due out in early May 2012. The beer has pronounced hop flavors and aromas of kiwi, passionfruit, apricot and gooseberry. Clean, assertive bitterness with balancing Pale malt characteristics. We hop it with the rare New Zealand Rakau hop along with Citra, Centennial and Amarillo. Named after the Norse Goddess of Poetry, who was the God Odin’s drinking companion... also, it was quite a saga to pick a name!

Saga IPA has been on my radar for only a short period of time, but I made a point of finding it immediately. I’m glad I did. Saga pours a hazy, light-colored shade of orange with plenty of suds. Aroma boasts grass, lemon, juniper-like spice, and pine. While the aroma wasn’t as dank as I hoped, there’s more than enough botanical goodness in the flavor to make me happy. Saga is piney, juicy, and hop-forward. There are some sweeter elements (grass, nectar, berry, and tropical fruit), but you’re more likely to pick out dry bitterness, spice, and herbaceous characteristics. Saga’s aggression and Norse mythological allusions make it an ideal pairing for Amon Amarth’s music. At least, that’s how I chose to enjoy it.

Bottle shared. Poured a medium orange color with eggshell head. Nice lacing on the glass, medium malt nose with slight hints of caramel and tropical fruits, the flavor holds true to the aroma. Nice mslt flavor matched evenly with the hops. Nice tropical burst of hops. Mild bitterness on the end. Overall pretty good offering from summit.

12 ounce can. Hazy dark gold color. Big bubbly beige head. Nice lace. Caramel malt nose with notes of tropical fruit and pine hops. Sweet toasted malt flavor has notes of pineapple and mango. Soft mouthfeel. Nice balance and flavor. Very drinkable and tasty.

Safe but good. That's about all I can say. There are complex hop varieties throughout the palate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap. Pours hazy light gold with a nice head. Nose is subdued because the beer was very cold. Average hop profile-not bursting with flavors but solid IPA territory. OK.

Bottle. A- Tropical fruits, pine, oranges, apricots. A- Yellow color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Pine, herbal, bitter, dry, tropical fruits, unbalanced. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. O- Loved the first sniff of the aroma, after that it was all downhill. Was hoping for all the tropical fruits it lists in the description in the taste but it was all very bitter and piney.

Great tasting IPA and very drinkable at 6.4%. The aroma is lacking and it smells more like alcohol than anything. Appearance is crystal clear gold and lacing sticks to my pint glass. Great with my favorite Thai food!

12 ounce bottle poured into a brandy snifter. The beer has a hazy copper appearance with a white head of foam. Pretty decent retention. Leaves nice rings of lacing. The aroma has zesty citrus fruit and some tropical, pineapple like notes. A little pine as well. Dry, pine like bitterness. Some juicy sweetness as well. Medium body, but gets a little thin toward the finish. I’ve never noticed that in any other beer. Pretty solid IPA. I’m really enjoying it.

On tap. Pours a clear gold with a white head and lots of lacing. It has an aroma of pine, resin, and some grass. The flavor is piney hops up front with a great bitter finish over a medium body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Solid India Pale Ale. It’s not my favorite style... but this one seems to be a solid representative.
