3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JAN 18, 2011 Bottle... Pours dark brown with a mid-sized, beige head. Good retention. The bouquet is very reminiscent of chocolate pumpkin pie - if there is such a thing. Full-bodied and oily with nearly-expired carbonation. Up front, the chocolaty-sweet flavor offers a nice amount of raw pumpkin and subtle pumpkin pie spices. Burnt, carbonaceous bitterness balances things out on the backside - without diminishing the rich, chocolate and pumpkin pie essences. Roasty, bittersweet, lightly acidic finish. Exciting brew from an otherwise humdrum brewery. Bottle courtesy of HonusWagner!

Pour from bottle, deep brownish black with nice tan head. Aroma has notes of pumpkin, spices, touch of yeast, leading into nice smoke, chocolate, and roast. Taste is some slight pumpkin up front, leading into spices and yeast mixing well, finishing chocolate, roast, and a delicious bitter smoke. Excellent brew, could drink this all the time!

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Did they JUST retire this? Because I just had it on tap 10 days ago @ Radio Maria in Champaign. It came in a shaker pint glass, the dark brown colour of an old penny, and with just a skiff ofa head. The aroma was nice-- sweet pumpkin with just a hint of roast. The palate didn’t quite deliver though. The backbone flavour seemed sweet and cola-ish, with a little pumpkin and a little roast, but overall it was weak and thin.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tasted at the big “SeaBass has got to go” tasting courtesy HonusWagner. Pours mahogany with tan head.
The aroma has dark roasted malts, some burnt malts, mild pumpkin meat notes and mild winter spices in the background. The taste is similar with roasted malts to burnt malts leading the way creating a slight roasted malt astringency drying sensation. Well behind those notes is a thin layer of pumpkin and smooth cinnamon and nutmeg like spices.
