COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewer Eric Harper has gone old school for Summit Unchained #11. As in, Old 152. Inspired by the Kentucky Common beer style that was popular before Prohibition, it actually uses a sour mash of maize and rye in addition to traditional malts and Cluster hops (just about the only hop available in the U.S. back then).
The results are anything but sour, yielding a chestnut-colored brew with a slightly spicy floral aroma, biscuit, caramel notes and crisp, clean bitterness.

Tampa. Fl - Total Wine - 12 oz bottle. Pours a murky medium copper pour, bubbly off white head, thin lacing. Aroma is decidedly sweet with some date accents, a hint of white grapes. Flavor has the same general sweetness with some dates, toffee, some maple syrup, some citrus bitterness in the back end. Mouthfeel has a nice stickiness to it. A bomber of this would have started edging toward cloying,

12 ounce bottle. Pours medium amber with a nice biege head. Aroma of malt, citrus, and grass. Taste is malt, grapefruit, lemons, caramel, grass, and spice. Very nice balance. Enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours a clear apricot with a tan head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a pretty strong note of bread with a bit of a musty forest note and just a touch of sweetness. Flavor is similar with a good amount of bread notes with the same musty forest note.

Tap - fair size foamy head, nice medium copper color, nutty malt aroma and flavor with a late kick of earthy bitter hops - pretty good overall ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz. bottle, consumed on 2-28-13. Dry aroma features biscuit and dark chocolate scents. Pours a slightly hazy but mostly clear copper-brown with a moderate amount of long-lasting, taupe head. Produces good, long-lasting lacing. Dry taste features mineral water, light lemon, peach, cracker, and whole wheat bread elements. Long, dry aftertaste. Moderate body. Lively, frothy, and smooth in the palate. Enjoyable brew in a beer type in which it is hard to rate highly.

It poured an amber color with a medium white head. The aroma was grainy rye, wood and some light resinous hops. The taste was toasty, bready, light to medium sweet caramel maltiness and some slightly sour grainy rye again. Decent.

The aroma is earthy - grassy with mixed grains and caramel malts. The appearance is amber with a medium head. The taste is like the aroma with a bit of an astringent bite. The palate is smooth. Overall an interesting beer but slightly to bitter.

12 oz. bottle. Pours red amber with a soft off white head that fades to a wispy film and collar. Aroma has subtle grapefruit some caramel and more fruit of sorts. Taste is bitter fruity hops which is quite nice and a soft caramel malt flavor along with biscuit and a little spice. Palate is thin to medium with a chalky dry finish. Really surprised how well this goes down! I find myself wishing I just bought a 6 pack instead of the single!
