COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When it came time for brewer Mike Lundell to brew his newest Unchained Series beer, he asked himself: “What does the beer world need most right now?” The answer: “Another IPA!” No, seriously, that is the beer’s name – Another IPA. An English-style IPA featuring Golden Promise malt and Target hops, expect herbal hop notes, nutty malt character and a fruity nose. Why order just another IPA when you can get Another IPA! Malts: Golden Promise. Hops: Target.

To add to the Unchained nature of this beer, Mike brewed two batches of Another IPA with slightly different malt bills. The first batch features Golden Promise malt from Simpsons Malt in the UK. This malt has been kilned to our specifications, resulting in a slightly darker (deep bronze) IPA with a fuller body. This brew will have an “Enjoy By Date” of 12/13/13 on the bottles. The second brew of Unchained 13 features a standard-kilned Golden Promise malt from Thomas Fawcett & Sons UK maltsters. Bottles will include an “Enjoy By Date” of 12/27/13. This beer will be a bit lighter in body and color (dark gold).

Bottle. Floral nose. Hazy gold with a thin white head. Really nice hoppy flavor. Very unique. Grassy, some spice. One of Summit’s best ever beers.

Pours a cloudy dark golden color with a decent head that fades to some lacing. Aroma of citrus, grapefruit, some fruit and grassy. Taste of pine up front with some malt and bit of caramel sweetness with a bit of nut. Nice bitterness and a dry finish. Medium body, crisp, smooth and well balance. Has an unexpected malt character for an IPA. Enjoyable beer. Nice twist on being just another IPA.

Sample at APN, from a cask. Pour is a hazy yellow with tons of citrus hops, one of their better beers actually.

Aroma is fruit, grassy hops and a hint of candy/malts. The flavor is fruit/light berries, malts, slight nutty/earthy notes and a bitter/slightly tart finish. Not sure if it being a single hop/malt ale impacted the flavor, but it was a different and good EIPA.

UPDATED: OCT 25, 2013 12/13/13 Version: Picked up a single 12-oz bottle from Heritage Liquors in Maplewood, Minnesota and sampled at GTMW 2013 in Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a hazy golden orange amber colored brew with a decent sized off-white head that has excellent retention and lacing. Aroma of citrus and grassy hops, some earthy spices and a touch of caramel malt. Taste is medium bodied, some toasted caramel and English-style malts, grassy/floral hops and some earthy spices. Finish is semi-dry, with a more earthy hop aftertaste with some toasted caramel malt in the background. Nice to take a break form the citrusy Cascadian hoppy IPA for once.

UPDATED: AUG 26, 2013 Paleish yellow, clear with some slight yeast debrie.Heady at first quickly receding to a ring with slight lace. Lemony floral citrus aroma.Grassy,tart.Fairly pungent.Slight bready. Lemony floral citrus taste and pungent, strong tart citrusy finish.Very pithy lemon rind bitter. Dry and crisp, very slightly buttery or light caramel. Pretty dry and clean malt base.More of a west coast style ipa in the sense that its hop bitter dry unbalanced, not neccessarly the tart thing. More lemony citrus tart than I like my ipas.
